Leave Rath alone. She is absolutely right with why Wilson will win it. And Wilson really does deserve it. Ziemba is great, but her role doesn't nearly have the depth and emotional punch that Big Edie has.
And I must admit. I would enjoy if the voters split between Ebersole, McDonald, and Murphy, and Monk got it. I feel Monk stole the show. With that being said, I am still rooting Ebersole. Updated On: 6/1/07 at 01:16 PM
I would love if Monk won too - she does steal the show, she's been around forever, and this is her "moment", musical theater-wise. However, it would be one of those situations where it's always looked down upon as an undeserved fluke, as when Ebersole won Lead for 42ND STREET. So for that reason, I sort of hope it doesn't work out that way.

Rath, I definitely see where you're coming from on Wilson. She certainly is the front-runner for the award, and rightfully so, because her performance in GREY GARDENS is amazing. I really love her and Ziemba equally, so I don't really care who wins. But I just think that if Wilson doesn't win Featured Actress, I'd love for it to go to Ziemba. :)

"Curtains winning Best Score wouldn't be a surprise. It would be a travesty."
This is the one award that would get the sentimental vote. This may be the last Kander and Ebb score on Bway. For it to lose would be sad. But hey, remember everyone said Wicked would win and now people say Spring Awakening.
"Remember HAIRPSRAY? 3 acting wins..." What does that have to do with anything?
I'm pulling for Audra or Laura. Laura would be a great if not weird shocker. Still shocked that Blonde got no set nod, but High Fidelity did.
"I saw Pavarotti play Rodolfo on stage and with his girth I thought he was about to eat the whole table at the Cafe Momus." - Dollypop
I don't understand why people saying it is unlikely that both GREY GARDENS women will win. Remember HAIRPSRAY? 3 acting wins...
Exactly, Thoroughly Modern Millie got featured and leading actress wins the year it took best musical. GG has two extraordinary ladies. They both deserve to win. (And hopefully will.)
"A birdcage I plan to hang. I'll get to that someday. A birdcage for a bird who flew away...Around the world."
"Life is a cabaret old chum, only a cabaret old chum, and I love a cabaret!"-RIP Natasha Richardson-I was honored to have witnessed her performance as Sally Bowles.
"Curtains winning Best Score wouldn't be a surprise. It would be a travesty."
Someone really said that? A TRAVESTY? Seriously? It's not their best score, but it's a damn good one. Do I need to list the songs that haven't left my head since I saw it - and I haven't seen it since before it opened.
I've seen GREY GARDENS twice, once this year, and whenever people mention song titles here, I wrack my brain trying to remember what they sounded like. The only one I remember at all is Around the World, and that's because of the TV commercial which was playing constantly for a while.

i'm really rooting for SPRING AWAKENING to win best musical...even though that's not really a "surprise". Laura Bell Bundy winning is highly unlikely, but I really want her to anyway :)
Curtains was the best new musical of the season, it was a combination of everything a great musical should have. It was a wonderful intergration of book, score, and direction, and what a great cast. I know that in the end that Spring will take the awards, but as long as it doesn't win best choreography I will be fine.
Wouldn't it be just desserts if Debra Monk won for CURTAINS over Christine in a role that is pretty much a featured actress role? The same way that Ebersole won for Dorothy Brock in the Leading Actress category?
I know it would never happen...but I was SO IRRITATED when Christine won a Leading Actress Tony for playing Dorothy Brock!
But I think that Ebersole is truly a lock for the Tony this year I really do.
