Although not officially announced until Monday, here is what will be offered:
-Dirty Dancing (sit-down) -Twelve Angry Men (national tour) -Sweeny Todd (national tour) -Nicholas Nickleby Part 1 & 2 (Chichester Festival revival from 2006) -Ha'Penny Bridge (new Irish musical from Dublin directed by Donna Feore)
That is what is confirmed. And I am officially bored.
(All this is in addition to We Will Rock You, which is not in the subscription season)
On the upside, Dancap Productions will be announcing at least 3 Broadway shows for their 07/08 season soon.
Dancap Productions is a (sort of) new producer in Toronto. Their office is located near the Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts (in North York). They have jointly produced 3 musicals with CanStage (Urinetown, Ain’t Misbehavin’ & Hair) as well as having been a producing partner on The Wedding Singer on Broadway. In the later half of 2006 they pretty much reinvented themselves and are preparing to launch their first season by themselves.
I am excited to see the new Sweeney, only seen the DVD of the original. and I have never seen 12 Angry Men. Dirty Dancing I can skip tho. Same with the new musical but I don't know much about it. I really loved seeing Orpheus last weekend. Anyone else see it? Does anyone want to hook up and see some of the PWYC performances at CanSTage or Buddies? Updated On: 1/21/07 at 10:29 PM
Anyone here from Ottawa by the way? You should check out Helen's Necklace at the Great Canadian Theatre Company in April-May, which I am assistant designer on.
Actually we had DROWSY CHAPERONE for a successful 6 week run at the Winter Garden in teh summer of 2000. We ahd it first!!!
BTW I will be featuring the OBCR of DROWSEY CHAPERONE this Sunday night at 7 on FOXY 88.5 FM (www.Foxy885.com)
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks." Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
I've seen Orpheus Descending! A whole bunch of times. I assisted the sound designer for the Toronto portion of the tour and had an amazing time. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it, AJ. My opinion may be slightly biased, but I really do love this production of the show and would highly recommend it! (but beware of the seats on the extreme sides, especially house right...you miss some vital staging up on the platform at the end of act III)
Sweeney is not "the only good one coming". Twelve Angry Men is a fabulous show. I saw the Broadway production several times. Excellent play. I know two people who have seen Ha'Penny Bridge and loved it (Donna Feore is a great director) so I'm excited about that one, too.
Jersey Boys would be great but I think that's wishful thinking as the tour is fairly booked at the moment. Wedding Singer is just a bad show, I'm not sure why anyone would be excited about that possibility.

It would be a sitdown, not part of the tour.
I'm a bit confused... is WWRY not part of the 07/08 season?
WWRY begins in March, and is not considered part of the 07/08 season (as it starts before).
And I'm very excited for Sweeney Todd, Avenue Q, The Wedding Singer and Jersey Boys. :)
Sweeny is confirmed, the other three are just rumours. RUMOURS!
Re: Dancap Shows
Where would they put these shows? And would they be Canadian productions or the touring productions?
Probally a mix of sitdowns and tours. It looks like Dancap may use The Toronto Centre for the Arts (former Ford Centre, used exclusively by Livent, which has been virtually dark for years) and/or The Elgin/Winter Garden complex.
Sounds like a good 2007/2008 season. As a subscriber for 2 seasons in the cheap seats on thursday night.$130 for 6 shows is a good deal. On there website it say`s there is a waiting list for the upper balcony. How many seats do they put aside for subscribers?
