subway is totally safe. but to be completely honest, so is walking. and that "broadway part of town" is about a 20 minute walk from Lincoln center. Just walk down broadway.

The 1st National Tour of the Lion King was pretty much a replica of the original.
I saw it in Los Angeles at the Pantages Theatre MANY years ago. It had all the traps that broadway had. Pride Rock appearing from the stage was an incredible sight. The way it rotates up into place, it was magic.
But only certain venues across the country can handle the technical need
From what I understand, they actually majorly scaled down the set to fit in smaller venues.
Someone who has never seen the show may not notice a difference....
In my understanding.... In this scaled down production, I believe nothing actually comes out of the floor. They redesigned the set to be able to fit into venues that do NOT have trap rooms......
The show is a major clunker. Jackson seems lost onstage. The Direction is a mess. It seems like everyone is wandering around all the time, crossing back and forth and around and nothing felt purposeful. Lighting was a mess, Set was bleh.
