I'm through accepting limits
'Cuz someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down
Seconding what Sondheim Geek said, and also giving an answer to your question.
Yes, Edward Scissorhands has been turned into a ballet, and it has been on West End for a while now. It is now on its US tour, currently in San Francisco.

Just to clarify, Edward Scissorhands is not technically classified as a "ballet". It is a Dance piece, yes, but Matthew Bourne doesn't really call his pieces "ballets". Dance is the method of storytelling, as opposed to speaking or singing.
And also the show is NOT still playing on London's West End, nor did it ever. The show played a 3 month Opening engagement this past winter at Sadler's Wells in London, which is where lots of dance companies perform, and Matthew Bourne's company, New Adventures is a resident company there. After that, the show toured for 3 months in the UK, then went to Japan and Korea this summer. Now the show is on a US tour through May 2007. We started preview performances today (Sat. Nov. 11) in San Francisco, and the show still has most of the same original British company.
More info. can be found on the show site, www.edwardscissorhands.co.uk or www.new-adventures.net.
I can't wait to see this when it comes to Brooklyn next March!! This has always been one of my favorite movies and from what I've seen on the website, this adaptation looks great! :)

I saw it last year, and yes, its dance vocabulary isn't entirely balletic, but I don't think it's such a big deal to call it a ballet. "Modern dance piece" is just so cumbersome. :) It's a fun show- I liked Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake better, but there was some lovely choreographic moments in Edward Scissorhands.
