So going back to see this and sure Gavin will be very popular in London Remind me where abouts the Prince Edward is located? Oh thats right! Old Compton St LOL
How terrific for him. I've been listening to him on "It's Only Life" and his voice is so golden, free, and easy. It can be pop or full sounding. I hope he has a great time. Poeple of both genders will be falling over themselves with him.
Why london? i would appreciate him in the broadway production. sad. those lucky brits!

"I am open, and I am willing,
For to be hopeless would seem so strange.
It dishonors those who go before us,
So lift me up to the light of change."
Holly Near
What a strange choice. It's SUCH and English role. So why in a sea of qualified UK candidates would they opt to bring over an American performer? Weird, weird, weird.

"Me flunk English? That's unpossible!" - Ralph Wiggum
I have to agree...I think this is very strange. Rather than giving him the chance to open an "orginal Broadway cast" and make him Tony-eligable, they have do London?? At roughly the same time the Broadway production is being mounted. That's just weird.
On the other hand, Gavin is one of cutest, most talented people alive -- so I guess this is still somewhat of a good thing.
isn't it to do with actors equity, because they brought gavin lee over from london equity asked them to put in an american lead?
That's what I thought the second I heard the news; Gavin Creel is the trade for Gavin Lee. Though, yes, it would have been easier just to use Gavin Creel over here. I think they wanted to give Gavin Lee the opportunity to make his Broadway debut and get his feet wet in New York, and Gavin Creel will have the opportunity to do the same in London.
Congrats to Gavin. Also gives me a reason to go abroad this summer : )
MassOfMen on 5/17/07: "and lastly, I have no vested interest in LB. I have seen the show, I paid my money (a lot of money for that tix) I didn't watch it on a bootleg, yes I saw the flesh and bone of the people up there working their tails off. But do I really have to explain myself to you? are you the judge jury and executioner of Bwyworld.com message board? no.
But I digress, I will leave this subject as I am bored of the rebuttals anyway, and go back to "wasting my time" with the job of building buildings. We have chat boards for architects as well, ya know."
It's also highly possible that the London aspect was part of intrigued Gavin.
"You just can't win. Ever. Look at the bright side, at least you are not stuck in First Wives Club: The Musical. That would really suck. "

"what? what is it? do i have something in my teeth? ok lets get this over with : no im not seasick, yes ive always been green, and no i didnt chew grass as a child "
It's a great show imo, I liked it more than the film. I personally didn't care about Gavin Lee's Bert, so hoped that Gavin Creel cud bring sth new into the show! The current Mary Poppins cast apparently isn't great... but the OLC is quite incredible imo! I have to admit that the Banks family stuff are pretty boring, but when it's gd, it's GOOD!!! Super..cious is one of the best choreographed piece of theatre in Ldn I have seen in the lat 3 yrs. Anyway, I am just so happy that I can see Gavin, no matter what show!... even just seeing him on the streeet!!!! lol
