Nahh, I've seen worse.

Probably the worst one would be Pippin, because it was abridged in the wrong places.

Best- Chicago (minus Richard Gere)

Worst- Phantom (biggest waste of money since they hired a second Bush...)

I hold a degree in Musical Theatre from Montclair State University. It is useless. Now I'm funny for money. Oh, and I sing.

Best - Chicago (but only by default since Hedwig & The Angry Inch was off-broadway, and therefore, not a 'broadway' musical)

Worst - A CHorus Line

"Pippin" is a nice document for most of the numbers, as abridged as it is.

Chicago is really a great musical film, argurably the best. Renee Zellwegger is tolerable, but not great.

Well, Guys and Dolls isn't great, but it does preserve Vivian Blaine and Stubby Kaye. Hmm...worst? Tough question, don't know.

Chicago is one of the best musical films...it will probably become a classic in time.
I also love the movie verison of West Side Story, I think some of the ways it was changed (moving songs around, the rearangment of "America", etc.) makes it better than the musical- in some ways.

Sorry this is sort of a thread jack, but why do so many people have a problem with Richard Gere in that role? I thought he was adorable and just great.

I too loved Chicago, and I love Chorus Line too although I never did get to see it on stage, so that may be why I liked the movie.

Are you talking about filmed performances?

Or movie musicals?
