I'm sure we're not trying to suggest that Broadway performers are unprofessional or that we're actually making fun of them. People make mistakes, and it's fun to read about. Most of the time, the stories end with the actors laughing it off and going on with the show. There's no malicious intent here.

I think the possibility of bloopers is part of the fun of live theatre. you never know what will happen. And, I think it's a great accomplishment to these actors who mess up and go on like nothing happened, not an insult. Nothing on here has been mean, just funny little moments, most of which include the actors themselves laughing.

"It means nothing to come and sit in a theater night after night and immerse yourself in fantasy, only then to walk out the door and be unchanged in reality. This show will live on in our hearts. But where it truly must survive is in our actions, our compassion and our generousity of spirit towards one another." - Adam Pascal on the closing of RENT

I love when actors make little mistakes! It makes the show more memorable, and like someone else mentioned, it's one of the joys and thrills of live theatre!
-When I saw Wicked for my 10th time...The actress playing Glinda (who will go un-named), missed a line when she was mentioning to Morrible & The Wizard about how to capture Elphaba. I didn't notice it, but some other fans and my mom did. She missed the whole line!
-On the Wicked Tour in 2006, during the middle of For Good, there was some really weird boom...about 30 seconds later, the mics went out and you couldn't hear Elphaba and Glinda singing. They kept singing, probably not even realizing something was wrong. They finished the song, started laughing, hugged, and then a stage-hand pulled the curtain they use for Elphie's melting all the way out, and they announced that there were some technical difficulties.
-On July 29th, 2006 Tina Maddigan kicked her shoe into the audience during Not That Kind Of Thing at The Wedding Singer! During a scene, the man who caught it sneaked up to the stage and dropped it in a shopping bag. Then when Richard came out, he mentioned about Tina only having one shoe on. She laughed about it and put the other one in the bag. It was a riot! And the audience laughed and clapped for a minute or so. At curtain calls, her applause was SO loud! It was great.

'Sunset Blvd'
Adelphi Theatre, London
Rita Moreno guest star for 8 week limited season.
Opening night performance went brilliantly until 'As If We Never Said Goodbye' -you guys all know the words but she didnt- we got-
'Im coming out of makeup
im coming out of makeup
im coming out of makeup
the lights are really burning
im coming out of makeup'
-then she suddenly got her act together- thank god!!!
I sat next to my partner almost taking the blood out of each others arms with the pain of watching her do that!
I met her in San Francisco at a hotel cabaret she was doing a few years later and chatted to her at the bar and i mentioned 'that incident in London' and she looked at me fiercely for 2 seconds, bought me a drink and said 'maybe this will help you forget my dear' -a great lady!

A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

When I saw the original production of "Annie", I believe Allison Smith was playing her and she sat down on the floor to start "Tomorrow". Of course everyone had been waiting for this moment and then it happened. Sandy started heaving. A low "uh oh" murmur was heard through out the theater, would he or wouldn't he? He did, and trooper Allison never missed a beat. They had moving belts that would take the actors off and on stage and right after the song, a guy in a period trench coat and hat rode out on the belt, jumped off, cleaned up and jumped back on and off he went to great applause.

This is an old one. Tallulah Bankhead was doing a non-very-good play with Glenn Anders. At one point, Glenn was supposed to come onstage after hearing on onstage gun go off and react to the the afflicated character's condition. Unfortunately, Tallulah was regaling the offstage cast, including Glenn, with her stories. Glenn almost missed his entrance cue and, separating himself from Tallulah, ran onstage and shouted, "I thought I heard a flesh wound." Then, examining the victim, he said, "Thank God, it's only a shot." You could hear Tallulah's offstage laughter throughout the auditorium.

When I took my girlfriend to see the current West End production of Cabaret on the 14th of July, James Dreyfus managed to ad-lib pretty well around a line fluff.

During If You Could See Her, he messed up something, I don't remember what and the adience started laughing and applauding because it was so funny and he had begun to laugh himself. So since the audience were clapping his misfortune he huffed in character and stormed off stage. We all laughed more and then he strode back on, folded his arms over his chest, raised his eyebrows and said in The Emcee's accent, "Apologise." Of course my girlfriend was the first of a few people to shout "I'm sorry!" to which he replied, "Too little, too late." He carried on with the song and then at the end he turned to the audience and said, "Now you may clap."

That was wonderful.

Don't know if it constitutes a blooper, but I was at a matinée of the Rosie "Grease" revival. The intermission seemed longer than usual when Rosie appeared through the curtain and tearfully announced Marcia Lewis had fallen into a trap door. She said it would be a little more time to see if she was alright. The show did resume and Marcia finished the show. A few months later I asked Marcia about it and said she was lucky but spent a lot of time at the chiropractor because of it.

The first one was commented on by Shoshana herself on her blog she did backstage. The second, was a bootleg, and the third with Mary Poppins was also another bootleg. Everyone already knows these things, lol

My friend Alan was the Fiddler and the Constable in his high school's production of Fiddler. I didn't know him back then, but I got all this from him.

During one performance, Alan's weight shifted just as Tevye was saying, "Without our traditions, our lives would be as shaky as a fiddler on the roof!"

Suddenly, the show became Fiddler On The Ground.

Tevye had the presence of mind to catch the fiddle, and Alan had the presence of mind to limp up to Tevye and croak, "My fiddle, please, Reb Tevye!"

The irony of it is...given where the fall occurred, it added an extra layer of symbolism!

I saw Wicked in its early days, the day after Thanksgiving 2003. A loud crash/thump happened off-stage and the cast visibly flinched.

Without missing a beat, Chenowith rubbed her belly and ad-libbed "too much turkey yesterday."

One of the best that I remember is at a performance of AIDA on Broadway. The actress playing Amneris got stuck in the elevator coming back down to the stage after once of her costume changes. Radames and Mered began the "Not Me" scene and then when Aida and Amneris were supposed to enter nothing happened. Damien Perkins who was playing Mered ran back on stage and told Adam Pascal who was playing Radames what happened and Adam just burst out laughing as the curtain came down. They finally got Taylor out of the elevator and started again from the top of the scene. It was priceless!

I recently say Wicked on tour in Boston with Victoria Matlock and Christina Decicco. During the catfight, when Victoria said the bubble line, Christina started cracking up. Both of them did...it was hilarious...and cute!

About two weeks ago at Drowsy, Gerry Vichi (Feldzieg) flubbed a line so it went something like this:

Feldzieg:: The best way to get revenge on a man is through his...

Aldolpho:: Door!

Felzieg:: No. Through his...

Aldolpho:: Window!

Feldzieg:: Yes!

Aldolpho:: No... not through his window! Through his...

Feldzieg:: His... his...

Aldolpho:: His WOMAN!

Feldzieg:: Yes!

I saw "The Show Off" at the Roudabout years ago and it takes place in the 1920s. The actor was reading a newspaper at a dinner table and it was the New York Post of the day of the show and the headline on the sports section was about David Cone and the Toronto Blue Jays neither of which existed in the Twenties.

At Jersey Boys a couple of months ago Michael Longoria (as Joey) ran in and completely slipped. When he got up Christian Hoff didn't miss a beat and said "Watch your step" before continuing with his lines. It was very funny.

When I saw Spamalot, the dialogue in the Prince Herbert scene between Lewis Cleale (his father) and Tom Deckman (Herbert) was supposed to be this:

Lewis Cleale: Listen, Alice...
Tom Deckman: Herbert.
Lewis Cleale: Herbert...

And instead it was:

Lewis Cleale: Listen, Herbert...
Tom Deckman: (after a confused pause) Yes, Herbert...

Also, that night - maybe the sound guy was asleep, I dunno, but everyone's mics weren't on for one line in the Act Two Finale. When Robin runs out and says, "And I too have found my grail!" everyone is supposed to respond with, "What's that?"

Well, instead of a rousing shout from the entire ensemble, it looked like everyone onstage mouthed the line, while one tinny female voice yelled from what sounded like offstage: "WHAT'S THAT?"
