2. Metropolis (London)
3. Lautrec (London)
4. Napoleon (London)
5. A Clockwork Orange (London)
6. Mutiny On The Bounty (London)
7. I Had A BAll
8. A Time For Singing
9. Rags
10.Breakfast AT Tiffanys
11.Sherry
12.Drat The Cat

I have seen many trainwrecks of shows over the years & most of the above qualify ( some for many reasons & others for no apparent reason)

Speaking of Sherry! (exclamation point, please), there is a forthcoming studio recording which should be out early next year on EMI/Angel, with Nathan Lane as Sheridan Whiteside, Carol Burnett as Lorraine Sheldon, Bernadette Peters as Maggie Cutler, Tommy Tune as Beverly Carlton, Mike Myers as Banjo, and also featuring Tom Wopat, Lillias White and Phyllis Newman. It has a big 60s sound to it, and while the score is not a lost classic, it's a really fun listen.

So Sherry is finally coming out. How about Nathan Lane reviving his role in the recent The Man Who Came To Dinner by doing Sherry . I think this time around it would succeed.

What Sherry! needs most is some judicious pruning. The songs all run on the lonnnnnng side. An incidental number, "Crockfield," for example, runs over six minutes and a big number for Sheridan in Act Two, "Marry the Girl Myself" is an astonishing nine minutes long.

PRIVATE LIVES, Noel Coward and Gertrude Lawrence
then that makes me recall
LADY IN THE DARK, Gertrude Lawrence
THE KING AND I, Gertrude Lawrence
WEST SIDE STORY, Carol Lawrence
the list can be endless...let me start at the "A"s.

p.s. PJ, In case no one has broken this news to you, Liza is a SHE.

The two shows I wish I could have seen are Carrie & Side Show. Had the opportunity to see both, but passed, and now I'm kicking myself.

Oh, there are so many...and technically I could have seen all of these, though I don't suppose I would remember too much about some of them. I know I saw the Hello, Dolly revival in 1978, for instance, but it remains a vague, hazy memory...(my apologies to certain forum members, but at least I knew enough to want to go!)

Gypsy with Angela Lansbury
Chicago with Gwen and Chita
Annie (OBC)
Dancin' (Had I been more aware, I would have needed to see this several times...)
Woman of the Year with Lauren Bacall
Nine
My One and Only
Sweet Charity revival
Big Deal
Jerome Robbins' Broadway
Kiss of the Spider Woman with Chita
Side Show (I turned down a ticket to that, too...I so failed.)

Those are just what immediately come to mind...

To Victoria Grant

The name of the party who played Mr Belvedere was, I believe, Christopher Hewitt ( the original Roger De Bris in The Producers film)

Re Will Rogers - Tommy Tune directed & choregraphed it but did not star. The star was Keith Carradine

I saw GONE WITH THE WIND in LONDON..talk about train wrecks!
I sat there for 3 hours with my mouth open in disbelief. Accents were dropping like flies, no one seemed to know what they were doing and this was about 6 months after the show had opened.

A few months later it opened in Los Angeles. Thinking that maybe it was just an off night, I went to see it again. Just call me Mr. GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT. The only thing that had improved was......was.....nothing...nothing had improved!

Live theatre....YA GOTTA LOVE IT!
