I know people who came back from this literally raving with praise!

...and the soprano does indeed go full frontal!

"Salome" at the Metropolitan Opera House!

Voice, I was just reading it in the paper. Sounds like a very exciting production. I enjoy Straus' work very much. I'd like to see this. It's been years since I last saw SALMOME at the Met. I'll have to try to get there for this.

For anyone not into opera: This is a one hour and 40 minutes piece. The story is well known. Just sit back and enjoy the dramatic music...and in this particular case...don't close your eyes!

A source who was there said the ovation was "like the old days"...screaming...foot pounding....

No wonder she was taken aback!

I'm so glad the Met scrapped its previous production of this work. You remember it, the one that was set in a gay bathhouse
and where Salome performed her dance under a WWII army blanket?

I'll be there Friday; I'll be sure to give my full-frontal opinion then.

Saw the closing of Italiana tonight. Juan Diego Florez in a naval captain's outfit. Hello sailor.

Wow, I would love to see this production. I heard Deborah Voigt was supposed to do this, but did not fit into the costume.

(Kidding, I love la Voigt.)
PEACE.

I don't remember ever yelling Brava more than three times at the same performance, but Karita Mattila commanded it after that performance. It was undoable. Well worth being in the last row of standing room behind a linebacker.

It was indeed like the Old Met, screaming, foot pounding, the works. And not without warrant. Absolutely astounding.

And you know how rare praise is from Vish.

I'm in the last row of Family Circle standing room..an area where I have not STOOD in 12 years!

This was all I could get AND I have connections!(LOL)

This sold out to the rafters...

Geez, tell people that a busty blond goes naked and they just flock to the Box Office no matter what it is!
