National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene will present a seven-week return engagement of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, the revelatory and award-winning production of one of the world's most beloved musicals. The production, a New York Times Critic's Pick, will play a strictly limited seven-week return engagement from November 13, 2022 to January 1, 2023 Off-Broadway at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Fiddler on the Roof is presented in Yiddish with English and Russian Supertitles. Tickets are on sale to the general public on Wednesday, July 27 at 10:00 AM at nytf.org/fiddler or at Telecharge.com (212-239-6200). For group sales, contact Caryl Goldsmith or Scott Mallalieu at Great White Way at 212-889-4300.

The acclaimed production is directed once again by the legendary Oscar and Tony Award-winner Joel Grey. Also returning to recreate his award-winning performance is Steven Skybell who stars as Tevye, a milkman navigating family, faith and changing traditions in the little Russian shtetl of Anatevka. Choreography is by Jerome Robbins with Musical Staging and New Choreography by Sta Kmie.

Wasn't expecting this AT ALL!  One of my most cherished theatrical experiences.

An excellent revival, but odd since this was never a megahit when it played the Little Shubert and was frequently on discount sites. Did anything ever become of that limited tour & international productions that were announced pre-covid?

I am so happy to see this - one of my favorite theater experiences! And I’ll be in NYC during the run. I’ll need to grab a ticket!

Oh, I loved this production. Saw it twice and would happily see it again. What happy news.

This place is on a roll.

First Fiddler, then Harmony....I wish they had found another outstanding musical revival or new...but understand how hard it is to find great work that fits with their mission statement.

Congrats.

not sure what audience they are expecting here, it struggled to fill seats last time around, and i dont think of it as much of a tourist draw

but Skybell gave one of the hands down best performances i have seen in theater, full stop. a gift that people will be able to see him again.

The funny thing is, both those projects were due to their old artistic director, Christopher Massimine, who made headlines last year for grossly exaggerating his resume.

Also, interestingly: the 2019 transfer to Stage 42 was led by the Bway producer Hal Luftig. Now, the Folksbiene appears to be taking the lead on the return engagement to NWS "in association with" the commercial producers.

The album is gorgeous. I also love that they included all the extra music that usually isn’t included on other cast albums.

I join those here who raved about the production in general about Skybell in particular. A friend of mine knows his and she encouraged me to see it and having seen many productions of Fiddler and many Tevye's (starting with Herschel Bernardi who up till now was the best I've seen) and this one struck emotional chords that other productions didn't, not to say that they weren't completely enjoyable.

My friend also invested in the show primarily because of Steven and she told me that she's recouped almost all of her investment, so I guess they didn't struggle as much as some might think in filling seats. Good for them, and welcome back.
