The DEH post-mortems early continues the trend of that show: During the first months, many people were like "that show won't survive after Ben Platt leaves, he's the whole show!" or "it won't win major Tonys outside of Best Actor!"

Finally happened here, where stink of the movie, and the lack of a concurrently running production that could separate itself from the film version, definitely killed the momentum of the show.."

The show has been selling well, all things considered, so this post-mortem is a bit premature.
"

Unlike others, I'm not saying the movie killed the show outright, I'm just saying it's killed its momentum. I don't think the show is going anywhere anytime soon, I just think it'll be settling into a stage where it will run just like other shows, not able to ask huge ticket prices as it used to.

Did Jordan do both shows yesterday?

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

You can sit virtually anywhere in the Music Box outside of premium for just over $100, even the front row. Not even Phantom is that cheap.

What's up with that?
"

That's nothing...my friends who work at Come From Away say that they've seen a large amount of prime orchestra seats sold for only $52, and even with the show's massive discounts they aren't even filling half the house for most performances.
"

I would imagine that shows like DEH and Come from Away that have been open for 100 years and everyone that had the desire has already seen them are going to be relatively cheap. Very low demand make the prices drop, as the shows have one foot in the grave already. They need to close and give the theater space to other shows, hopefully good ones!

Why are tickets so cheap?  IMO, Ben Platt isn't there.

I didn't want to ruin my memory of it seeing the "also rans."  Same thing with Ham.

Yes, the movie is a turkey, but I can listen to Ben sing while washing the floors.

Yeah, Ben was perfection in the role. He practically killed himself to perform it. Total sacrifice. And that's why no one else will ever be as good. It's not recommended but damn was it effective.

I agree that Ben Platt really carried that show back in 2017. I watched it a few times (even slept overnight just to get SRO back in June 2017). I've since watched other actors perform Evan and perhaps I'm just biased but I never get as emotional as I did when Ben Platt performed it. Perhaps it was his singing or acting or both or the combination of him and the OBC. Not sure but that was my experience.
