Sorry - am I missing something? I'm not seeing anything indicating that this is connected to Frank Wildhorn's "Carmen." Seems like a totally separate project.
But again, if there's a source I'm missing, please correct me.

You know I think I made the rookie mistake of reading Wikipedia and IMDB both of which state explicitly the film is based on Frank Wildhorn’s musical but other articles I read say “the new songs” are written by Julieta Venegas and Taura Stinson.
It has an original score by Nicholas Britell, with new songs by Britell, Taura Stinson, and Julieta Venegas. Wikipedia is the only site that mentions Wildhorn, so someone needs to correct that.

And on the Wikipedia page for Wildhorn's musical, there's a section talking about the film adaptation - and they even cite a "source," linking to an article that has no mention of Wildhorn! God! I almost envy the unbridled confidence of a person who jumps to a wild conclusion, with such certainty that they go out of their way to edit a Wikipedia page, linking to a source that they didn't even bother to read.
It sounds interesting enough on paper. It could go either way quality-wise, but I'll be curious to see it. I'm not familiar with Stinton or Vegenas, but I've enjoyed many of Britell's film scores.
Was excited about this when I first heard about it, but since then In The Heights has dimmed my excitement. She can barely sing and her "acting" is laughable. I know Vida got high praise so maybe she was better there. I found her to be so wooden in ITH.

Years ago I learned not to trust Wikipedia. I was interviewing Cathy Rigby for this site and prepared myself by going to Wikipedia (and probably another source or two) . I mentioned some of the items I'd found in Wiki during our converation and Cathy was confused because they were blatantly incoorect. I told her thst Wiki was my primary source and we went to her laptop to read the info about her and she was dumbfounded because so much of it was just plain wrong. She got a member of her staff to correct it.
