I saw this last night, almost lost for words. Close to the worse show I've seen, ever.

The fact that this inane drivel is still on, beggers belief. I rarely leave before the end, but I was out of there at the interval. The fact they are taking it to Broadway, astonishes me. Might work with a new book & score written by someone else. Someone should take away Webber's pens and make him wear boxing gloves to prevent him using a piano.

Well I don’t agree and can think of either worse written or far less inspired shows I’ve seen on Broadway. “Only you, lonely you” is as good as any top tier ALW song.

More interestingly is history repeating itself?

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

I’m not surprised they’re going to be revising the show already. Andrew Lloyd Webber has a history of revising shows after the critics have their say. Sunset, The Woman in White and Love Never Dies all underwent similar revisions while the shows were still running and then invited critics back.

I just can’t see anyone taking the POST seriously.

Jordan pretty much summed it up.
