I completely disagree about “Clandango” I think they were right to replace it."
"When You're An Addams" is fun... if anything maybe fit "Clandango" as a finale with the official ceremony for Wednesday. Either way, I guess my thought is that I wish the song hadn't been cut, even if "Addams" was the number that ended up being the opening. haha.
Here's the song we are referring to in case anyone is curious.
There's even a comment on the video that says "both have their narrative merits" or something to that effect and that better describes my sentiments above.
I would LOVE for Oscar Isaac to take a crack at bringing Gomez to life in a live production; he does the voice for the character in the new animated films. I wonder if the casting of Nathan Lane as Gomez would fly today.

Would NBC even be able to do this, rights-wise? "The Addams Family" originally aired on ABC and the franchise is owned by MGM, whose last network show was "Clarice" on CBS. Not to mention they're already developing "Wednesday" for Netflix.
Seems like it'd be a fustercluck of potential licensing issues.
The rebranding of Gomez to his traditional pre-TV roots was after the musical, which was the first Gomez to speak with a specifically Spanish accent. Julia blended American, British, Puerto Rican and Russian elements to create his Gomez… really only an exaggeration of his Shakespeare voice.
Idol fan here. Katy knows nothing on theater, an aria , or even Abba....There was another similar incident this season . I told my music professor about this audition and he laughed https://youtu.be/fAll66kaC5Y
She also eliminated Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon after a masterclass "Somewhere " performance for a mediocre country singer (This is the performance ,not the elimination ) https://youtu.be/eyoe4lXMUAA
And Nichole S is on The Masked Singer on Fox and NBC got her for Annie so anything is possible with Katy. ABC Idol auditions don't usually start until early November (FOX Idol back in the day started over the summer )
Katy is talented as hell but she annoys me sooo much on Idol and a lot of her comments on theater.
I get the idea, but I don't really see Perry as a fit for Morticia. If this did happen, I'm sure they'd revise the show again, and among other things, probably try to beef up the part a bit, Morticia's weirdly secondary to Gomez in the musical. In fact it feels like the writers didn't know what to do with her, both the Broadway and licensed versions' arcs for Morticia feel really out of character.
Remembered this thread and wanted to bump it to see what everyone’s reactions would be. lol. Plus, Netflix is giving us Tim Burton’s WEDNESDAY series… so who knows…
If I remember correctly, the show was in trouble in Chicago, so Jerry Zaks was brought in to pep up the show. I think that his history with Nathan came into play and they just gave Nathan tons more to do.
Please don't come at me if I've gotten this incorrect.
