Im curious what people think if the producers would extend the series to include the last ten years after her 60th jubilee. And it they would run it as a seven season series. Im hopeful that that final season would see an appearance from Helen Mirren.

Also what does everyone think of Imeldas first look. I think shell be fantastic

They've always meant it to be six seasons, until it was five, then back again to six.  So anything is possible.  They certainly have enough content to run past six.

As massive die-hard fan, I can say at the moment, season 6 is the end. But...as Tag said anything is possible considering the amount of drama surrounding the family just in the last 3-4 years. Would I be surprised if it were extended or even mad at the idea? Not at all. But I think doing such current events on camera might be a little too 'Uncanny Valley' for the world at the moment. But believe me, if it's extended I'll come right back here to say so ;P

Apparently they are currently filming events from 2002.  So you wonder how far Season 5 and 6 could go.  Maybe we'll see some not too distant events by Season 6.

I’m not quite sure why this is on a theatre forum, but I’m sure they’ll stop at season 6. However, it’s possible some time later they may try to make another season or two based on more recent events once the dust has settled a bit allowing them to properly write arcs with an end in mind.

I’m certain that Peter Morgan has said he doesn’t want to recreate what’s happening right now because it’s all so fresh. Obviously he may change his mind, as he has previously done, but I truly hope they end the show in the early 00’s instead of taking it through to modern day.
The original two seasons were excellent viewing but the third and fourth do feel rather exploitative.

In a new interview, The Crown’s executive producer Suzanne Mackie has explained why the show won’t touch upon modern events.

How could that be, though? Are they filming both seasons 5 and 6 at once? Diana died in '97, and Elizabeth Debicki has signed on for both 5&6.

*Edit.* Sorry! I misread "filing" as "filming!"

Ha, should have said "filming".

Maybe they are shooting out of order.  Or maybe they are repurposing events in fictional timelines, as the show has been known to do.

Also, one thing to consider about The Crown and Netflix, is that Harry and Meghan have signed some deal with them to produce or create content I think in some way. Now, it might be some type of conflict of interest to be creating a show, featuring some of their own creators or employees? Idk, I bet Harry and Meghan wouldn’t want to watch their current life dramatized? Plus, if you click on the link above, it says the Peter Morgan believes 20 years after the fact is a good time frame in which to look back and examine characters and subjects, because perspective has been gained on what really happened, but in the present, we’ll it’s still the present and life is still unfolding. We can’t look back and analyze it right now. It’s too soon.

Also, I think the only way this post fits in with theatre is that The Audience appeared on Broadway with Helen Mirren, and I believe the play inspired them to create the show? The Audience is one of my favorite plays I ever saw on Broadway. It was a fabulous play, although I wonder what it would be like to watch if Helen Mirren was not in it? (Probably not as good! But idk for sure! Lol)
