The Inheritance or Slave Play? Dec 2
2019, 06:53:15 AM
See The Inheritance, one of the best plays to ever hit the Broadway stage. I’ve seen both parts and they were phenomenal! Slave Play, on the other hand, was horrendous, and by that, I mean, it was so boring. The sci d part of Slave Play wanders into tedious analysis that I could not follow nor did I care what the characters were talking about. The only good part about Slave Play is that it makes white people think about the long term psychological damage that slavery inflicted upon African Ameri
Tootsie Is Closing Nov 11

I saw Tootsie and On Your Feet in this theater and while I loved both show, they seemed a little different because the theater seems so modern. It’s an extension of the hotel so it somehow feels less special to me than the other more “Broadway” theaters. I know that sounds crazy but it seems like a “step” theater, like the shows were not good enough to be in the older more Broadway theaters. I know that is crazy and unfair but the Marquis seems like a theater for less popular shows.

What are “the gay play tropes”? If you feel these familiar themes are tired, what should a “gay play” talk about?
Ok...so I must tell you about THE INHERITANCE in more detail! It’s brilliant!! Run don’t walk to The Inheritance! If you are a gay man or you love gay men or have gay family members, I would say you need to see this masterpiece. It is the best play I’ve ever seen on Broadway. It’s as good as my favorite play, THE AUDIENCE and it’s as good as my favorite musicals FUN HOME and HAMILTON. It’s in the league with the very best of shows. Where to to begin with de
I’m not sure as to what promotional material has been put out for Linda Vista but it looks like the show has issues. The % of the Theater seats filled is quite high at 87% but the only way they are doing that is by selling the tickets at a very low average price for $40 which is extremely low for Broadway standards. Maybe they are trying to fill the theater with low prices in order to generate good word of mouth? I don’t know. I think the story is very well done, but am not sure w

Maybe they do have money in it and would rather ask a question here versus asking their producer questions (ugh, I speak from experience, lol!) then you might say, “that’s not a great relationship with your producer if you would have to ask a public forum versus asking your producer” but that was the case for me....then you’ll say, “you shouldn’t be investing,” Lol!
Anyway, what I was wanting to ask here was why Is Linda Vista doing so badly? I saw it and really liked it! But then a fr

So Scott Rudin is a micro-manager? Tell me more! Lol! I heard he is not fun to work with. Also, why do the plays he does, why don’t they ever have merchandise to buy? There was nothing to buy at King Lear and Three Tall Women.
The Notebook Reading Tickets... Jun 17

Google “is Nicholas Sparks anti-gay?” and an article from the Daily Beast pops up. I read it, and although Sparks seems to issue an apology via Twitter, I’m not sure I buy it. Just in case, I think I would pass on involving myself with anything Nicholas Sparks. I saw The Notebook movie and liked it. But In the author’s heart, if he’s anti-gay and racist, well, I’ll pass on supporting his shows. Just like the MJ Show seems doomed (for good reasons, I believe) I think this one will be going down a
Gifting Actors Jun 17
2019, 09:24:39 AM
If it makes you happy to make them a gift, I would say do it! And delivering it early might be a good idea, but I would guess, in this day and time, that the gift be clear about what it is. If you put it in a box and wrap it up like a Christmas or birthday present, they might be leery of you leaving it, because who knows what could be in the box? You could tie a bow around it and attach a card, but don’t conceal what is. That would be my advice if you’re gonna drop it off at the Lyceum.

I wonder why there was such hype for BMC, with multiple news outlets saying things like “it’s gonna be the next Hamilton?” Well, it certainly didn’t live up to its hype. Why? I’ve seen it twice and liked it. But it seems hard to make it appeal to the masses for some reason. I don’t know how a show with that much hype, could fail so?
Be More Chill or The Prom? Jun 6

I’ve seen both and I would recommend Be More Chill. It will have more appeal to the 10 year old. Funny I’m going to Louisville this weekend, so we could be of similar mindset! I’ve seen Hadestown which is awesome (and is actually think a young person would like that too!) and I saw Moulin Rouge in Boston and it was awesome! Send me a PM if you like!
FRANKIE & JOHNNY Reviews May 31

Ugh! I couldn’t stand this show, and I had such high expectations for it, having read it in written form. But that did not translate to me when I watched it. On the positive side, the acting from both was very good. They kept my attention for the most part (although I did find myself slightly snoozing right before the first act ended. I always wish I could rewind it when that happens, lol. Luckily it doesn’t happen in most shows!) but....I found the overall play boring, boring! One of the worst
Lost Playbill Apr 16

I know this is a super first world problem but I lost my Playbill for What the Constitution Means to Me and for Network. Im going back to NYC at the end of April, do you think if I went to the Hayes Theatre and the Belasco, they would just give me a replacement Playbill? (I have all my Playbills for the last 4 years so I dont want to lose any, lol!) or does the Playbill website sell replacements? Thanks!!

After the Tony’s I wonder if Be More Chill has thought about replacing any of the cast members with teenage stars? (Who they could be, I don’t know. Do you?) I know that they have their cult following who might actually be upset if some of the original cast were replaced with Hollywood or television stars, but you know what? The cult following is not turning into ticket sales, so maybe something new is in order over at BMC?

Kong or Lear? Apr 16

Do you want a show which could be fun in seeing a large puppet? Or do you want a show that he an amazing performance from Glenda Jackson but otherwise I was totally lost in the production. If you’re going to Lear (which I did) make sure you know as much about the story prior, become you won’t pick it up at that performance. But the individual actors were great! Jame Houdyshell was awesome too and it has quite a renowned supporting cast and the guy playing Cornwall in the kilt is hot! But I would
