I ask do you know anyone who after that day finally admitted they were wrong? Are they ashamed, even a little, was what happened that day not changed a single mind? I almost want to call all the Trumpers I know in my family and friendships, those remaining, and ask them if even they've changed, then I think give it time.
I knew it would not be immediate, but I think as he makes the news less and less, and people move on from the election, he will be a horrifying memory by this time next year.
I had to stop talking to my Cousin who lives in Garbage, Florida (known to others as The Villages) because he fully supported the terrorists on that day and got deep into Q-Anon. Had to let it go, and I'm okay with it.

Never."
Trump?
Unfortunately not for Jan 6th, but I think there is a very good chance he will be behind bars in a year or so.
"Sutton Ross said: "A rich white man who has never had to take responsibility for anything in life? Whose Daddy and his lawyers get him out of everything? Never." Trump?"
Maybe it is Senator Ted Kennedy -lol. Daddy buys him Senate seat and his lawyers get him suspended sentence for driving his car off a bridge (probably drunk). He leaves the scene of the accident (felony) and does not report it until many hours later. This scum of the earth leaves a woman to die without getting help while he goes on to live very nice life. I guess that was fine because what the heck, he is a "Kennedy".
Maybe it is George W. Bush who no way becomes Governor of Texas and POTUS without his Daddy's connections and wealth. In addition, I am quite sure he would not gotten into Yale if his name was not Bush either -lol.
I know this comment was about Trump and yes it is true. That being said, let's not act like he is the only one in politics whose Dad and lawyers got him out of trouble and made him responsible for his actions.

Agreed. As to to respond to the question at hand...I don't even know. I'm only 'leftist' in my immediate family and this topic has never come up in conversation. My parents likely fall into the "I detest what happened that day, but what about the BLM protests last summer?" train of thought...the usual whataboutisms that aren't comparable at all. My brother? I wouldn't be surprised if he actually was in support of it. I hope not...but if I found out eventually that he was, I wouldn't be shocked in the least.
There are only two people I know who've changed or at least called it out. One is my best friends' mother, it was that day that supposedly made her finally go "What the hell..." . The other is former friend who identifies as Republican and did denounce that violence for what it was...while at the same thinking it can possibly divorce oneself from the very party's rhetoric that led to that insanity.
We all were in terrible knots that day and a few days after, but I've said it many times...every time I give myself the time and energy to mull over what happened that day, I get stomach sick and chilled to the bone. The only reason it wasn't successful is that it was so poorly planned and executed by inept loons. All I could think that day was, "This is how Gilead started...". Except that was planned and carried out by an intelligently led right wing fascist group. I shudder to think about what would have happened if one of the far right wing supremacist groups were led by competent people. My stress level has gone down significantly since inauguration day but I still worry about the day the US comes across a competent authoritarian.
The past 4 years have taught me, more than any classroom, that history isn't something in books that happened years ago. We're living the exact things we studied in class.

Wow !! So you equate a foreign country attacking this country and killing over two thousand people with a riot that was under control in a couple of hours. The Pearl Harbor attack led the US into WW II and you think Jan 6th was more a day in infamy - OMG !! This attack on the Capitol did not stop, it only delayed Congress it's duty of officially counting the electoral votes for the President- Elect. The five people that died at the riot on Jan 6th, only one (still horrible one person died but it is not two thousand) was due to the actually riot. One person died of a drug overdose and three others died of natural causes. The one person who was shot and killed by the Capitol Police we do not know the identity of the shooter, just curious as why we do not know the identity. I would also like to know why the Capitol Police officer shot this woman. Not condoning the Jan 6th attack but IMO it is not even close to the horror of Pearl Harbor attack.. BTW - I have been to the Arizona Memorial a couple of times and it is a excellent memorial to those who died during this horrible attack.
"How did we get to Ted Kennedy?"
As for Ted Kennedy, I just brought him up as another "rich white man" (Not Trump) who has been protected by his family and not held accountable for his actions since it was mentioned on this thread how Trump has been protected his whole life.
