I’d say June but that’s only because I know several shows are looking towards a September start.

Great to hear! Are you hearing mainly new shows that locals haven’t seen, mainly long runners, or a combo?

Looking is also cheap Broadway By Fall?

We shall see but I think if we see some show(s) in September it will likely be (a) late and (b) not a lot.

Same, and hopefully its announced early enough I can make some plans and not scramble
"

i just got a CRAPTON of emails from ATG with extensions on my credits for all the SITPWG performances I had booked last year, now extended to December 2022. So, in a way that makes me hopeful it’ll actually happen. The emails also said if you’re a previous ticket holder you’ll have priority access when they go on sale again which is nice.

For what it’s worth, de Blasio just said again at his Q&A that the target date to get broadway back is September. He said something like “back at full force” by September which seems way too optimistic but it’s nice to know at least, that’s the goal they’re working towards.

I would not think anyone would pay attention to what he says on this subject. As with so much else, one must ask on what possible basis he would know anything on this subject. I am not saying there may not be a show or two in September, but the multifarious factors that would bring that about are way outside his knowledge base. Who is he talking to in this  pronouncement? Charlotte St. Martin? LOL And I would say "at full force" is not just way too optimistic but seriously delusional.

You’re right. I shouldn’t have posted anything related to a press conference where the topic of this entire message board was brought up or reported what was said as to the efforts to reopen theatres and get many people who view and post to this board back to work.

Hogan - I sincerely apologize.

Sarcasm noted. But the substance of what I say remains: de Blasio has no basis in fact for a word he said on this, and if the tenor of my reaction is borne of his repeated similar statements on subjects he knows nothing about (and that have nothing to do with this board), so be it. My point is: nothing he said or has done gets theatres reopened or people back to work. But he gets the attention to which he is addicted.

Gotcha. Again - please accept my sincere apologies for posting. We all know how any talk about this subject sets off your Google alert and makes you jump online to post about how Broadway is dead so again, I apologize for making you post that yet again today. Please know when you post it again today in response to someone else, that I sympathize with your compulsive need to do that. No sarcasm at all since your absolute need to do it, at this point, points to a more psychological need of yours to crap on things.

1. I did not say you should not have posted. What I said was that "I would not think anyone would pay attention to what he [B deB] says on this subject."

2. Considering that I have consistently and for a long time stated that I expect Broadway to come back in the Fall, and that (as I said in a post to you in the past few days) to me that means October but that perhaps there would be a couple of previews in September [essentially consistent with what the great prophet St. Martin said], might I suggest that your description of what I said as "how Broadway is dead" is greatly exaggerated.

3. Considering that you have consistently regaled us with your travails rooted in wishful thinking about reopenings going back to [when? last summer?], one might reasonably suspect that a dose of expectations management would be helpful. {And that offered, btw, with no need to weigh in on any "psychological needs" you might have.}

4. Being realistic is not "crap[ping] on things." I am truly sorry that realism is triggering for you right now, but you'll be fine. I promise.

Patience. We will get there. And without de Blasio, St. Martin, or any other fake-a$$es.

And wishful thinking has nothing to do with anything since theaters will open with or without it so what the F if someone is/was hopeful? I’ll never understand why that so directly chaps your ass so much that you compulsively need to log on to say the same sh*t, a dozen different ways. You’re really the kind of person who would go to a children’s hospital and tell parents you want them to know odds aren’t that great so maybe stop planning for them to come home. Just to keep it real.

I think the July 4th "Hamilton" rumor sounds like a conversation had between two drunkards at Dutch Fred's. However, Constitution Day- September 17- still sounds about right to me (and hopefully not too gimmicky). If "Diana" can resume previews on a Wednesday, then there's no reason why this one cannot reopen on a Friday.

Once "Hamilton" leads, other shows will follow in a staggered manner- slowly falling dominoes throughout the 2021-22 season.

I just dont think Hamilton will need a gimmick or a holiday to re-open. Like, they are one of the very few who needs nothing special to re-open to immediate success.

That $1000 a seat by lottery for “Hamilton” was a ridiculous idea. Imagine paying that much and getting last row mezz on the far side.

1. Never have I stated anything as "the truth" on this subject. I have stated what I expected and what seemed realistic to me.

2. If you think I am compulsive, look in the mirror. For every time I have posted my perspective on this, I am sure you can find 5 of your wishful thinking posts. But that's fine: I don't feel the need to make this personal as you seem to.

3. Believe it or not, when I post in response to your compulsive wishful thinking, I don't really expect to sway you. But there are others who appreciate hearing a reasonable voice.

4. Your last bit is uncalled for. Maybe think about that and context?

I’ve read it and I’m not changing it. Just block me since I bug you as much as I do. You’ve become insane with this crap and my “wishful thinking” here was posting a bit of news from the morning press conference.

And your voice is not “reasonable”. It’s an opinion. One you feel the need to post in every thread multiple times a day. An opinion. Nothing more and nothing less. Don’t make yourself more important than you are.

I have no desire to block you. I like reading what you contribute here. I have never suggested that anything I have posted on this subject is anything other than my opinion. In fact, I have reiterated that no one knows anything at this point. I also do not try to make myself important but whether my voice is reasonable is of course a matter of opinion. Some here think what I say is reasonable; you don't and that's fine. And as I said before, I did not criticize your posting of the "news." If you go back and read what I said, it was not about you.
