Cast Album History Question

Hi folks! I'm doing some research on cast albums and wondered if someone could help with some facts.  

My understanding is that there is no OCR of "Show Boat" in 1927 but there is an Original London Cast from 1928.  Am I right in understanding there was precedent in England to record some form of a cast recording but not yet in America? If this is true, are there any other examples of British cast albums from this time that people can share with me?

I'm also aware of the limitations of these recordings with 10-inch 78s that had limited times so this is not a cast album in the modern sense.  I may have more questions later on.  Thank you!
