With Pfizer's vaccine approved in Britain today, and the Moderna vaccine about to be approved in the US, I thought this would be a good place to see how it affects people in real time. If you get the vaccine, and you feel comfortable doing so, here's a place where you can share the process of being chosen, what side effects you felt, and when it was determined safe for you to relax mitigation strategies. I'm sure there won't be many posts on this thread for a while, but it sure helps my peace of mind to know the end of this pandemic is on the horizon.
I'm glad you're keeping an open mind,Alex. My boss is driving me crazy with her stupid conspiracy theories about it (i.e.,we're all going to be microchipped, she believes in God and not medicine, etc.) I believe in God,too, but I also believe in facts. I heard yesterday that the CDC wants it to be distributed to front-line workers first, then long-term care homes, then people over 65. My sane co-workers and I talked about it today;they heard the same report. I'll definitely be following the news from Britain.
I'm hoping for the best--anxious to travel again. All the best to you.

I recently completed the 2-dose vaccine for shingles, now that they lowered the age minimum to include people of my youthfulness. My left upper arm was sore/tender for several days after the second shot, the first left no impression at all. I got a little tired of it as day four rolled around, but I snapped out of it when I recalled the misery actually getting shingles caused several friends over the years.
I plan on looking at the Covid vaccine that way. If anybody saw Rachel Maddow's show tonight (Thursday Dec 3) there was a lengthy segment at the top of the show with five critical care workers "proning" a Covid patient. I will think of the discomfort they are suffering if I have a reaction to the vaccine.
Also, if microchipping means I can pay at stores and restaurants by blinking at a screen or whatever, sign me up.

Am I correct in assuming that one will need shots every 3 months after the initial doses?"
If that's how that vaccine ends up working, I suppose yes. But I can only assume that there's work being done on how to avoid it being a vaccine that you need a booster that often. That would just be crazy.
