Hello, I know that things will probably be different by the time stuff reopens, but what are your tips/experiences with rush tickets on Broadway? What shows did you get in, fail to get in, How long did you wait etc?

My current plan is to go to NY for a week in April, rush for weekday shows and book weekend shows in advance.

If anyone has experience with with any of these shows your advice will be greatly appreciated: Come From Away, Company, Six, Hamilton, Wicked, Chicago, Aladdin.

Only ticket I've booked so far is Hadestown Sunday Matinee.

Everything is going to be so different by then that I'm not sure anyone here, regardless of how many shows they've rushed, can give you any useful advice based on past experience.

It's absurd to think that anyone's experience with rush will be relevant to the unlikely situation that Broadway will even have performances in April, or that any of the shows listed will be running. Add to that the fact that NY requires a 14-day quarantine if you arrive from most states, why bother?

Some of the shows you named have a lottery and not a rush. But who knows what the policies will be if/when they reopen?

On my last trip to broadway, which was October of 2019 I had the following experiences -

Hamilton - went to box office the day I arrived and asked about 1 ticket for that night (Tuesday) or either show on Wednesday. There was nobody in the cancellation line, and he offered me a center orchestra ticket for regular price. $220? or $250?  I was very happy tp pay it.

Alladin - Checked the box office about an hour before show, asked about limited view and was offered 2 choices. I chose one on the extreme house right side but maybe 6th row? Great seat for the price. I think it was around $59?

Dear Evan - Checked the box office for Rush or Standing Room around noon and none available. Checked TCKTS booth about 2 PM and got a center orchestra ticket for $98.

Freestyle Love Supreme - Checked for a rush ticket at the box office 2 hours before show... Side orchestra, great seat for $25 I think.

I realize those aren't all RUSH tickets but they were all last minute purchases and they were all well under list price. Hamilton and Dear Evan had to be premium seats online, they were perfect center orchestra seats.

Until further notice, I wouldn’t count on Rush, SRO, Cancellation tickets, etc. Less than a handful of shows have tentatively announced April openings, which CAN change and things will NOT be as they were pre-pandemic. It’ll be a while before anything returns to the way they were. If you are assuming that ALL of Broadway is returning to normal in April, you must be living under a huge boulder unaware of the reality of things. Your April plans are hilarious as they made sense in 2019 - not 2021.

Wow that list is long of which states you must quarantine from!  While I'm not on it, it sounds similar to my own states reccommendations. Interesting that my state lists the exception states instead - a much shorter list! Not that I'm planning on going anywhere!
