This is an interesting read.. I haven't given it much thought before, but it seems like it's (relatively speaking) not a lot of money for 8 shows a week though every bit helps.

I think this grossly overestimates the importance of the royalties from cruise ships.

I agree. This writer doesn't seem to do much research and seems more interested in getting clicks. The producer of Rock of Ages said the income was in the six figures annually. Let's be generous and say it was $200k/year. The producers keep half of that so there's $100k left for investors. Let's say there were 150 investors in Rock of Ages. That means they'd each get $666/year (more like $400 after taxes.) Sure that would be nice to have, but I don't think that is money they were counting on.

Talking about the effect of the cruise line collapse on the professional theater, it might be better to think about the loss of work for performers and technicians.  The biggest ships hired the most folks.

It adds up over the years, though, right? I’d take the $$$ over six years or whatever... It’s like an annuity, and probably more reliable than fluctuations in high schools doing it.

Probably more helpful for like Rock of Ages and Kinky Boots, which don’t seem like school-appropriate schools.

Definitely. I wonder if they were furloughed. Lots of people paid, although many low $$$ workers

unmitigated, laughable stupidity.
