Amazing that the media is still lying about hydroxychloroquine- Page 1

This drug hydroxychloroquine in combo with zinc and azithromycin is saving the lives of thousands of people across the country.  A NYU study just confirmed the value of the three drug treatment.  "NEW YORK - Researchers at NYU's Grossman School of Medicine found patients given the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine along with zinc sulphate and the antibiotic azithromycin were 44 percent less likely to die from the coronavirus."  That is a direct quote.

This confirms many other physicians success with the treatment, including Doctor Zelenko who reports a 95% success rate if the treatment is administered early, before hospitalization.  YET THE MEDIA IS STILL LYING ABOUT THE DRUG.  Minutes ago I just saw a report by NBC bashing the drug.  That to me borders on criminal.  Speaking as a former infectious disease researcher in one of the largest hospitals in the USA who has seen an awful lot of seriously ill people up close, I find it shocking that any person would bash a valuable drug based upon political reasons.  Who gives a toot if Trump mentioned the drug?!  It is saving lives.  That is the priority.

Well Cancer kills more people than the Flu so checkmate atheist. You can worry about more than one thing at a time. Does the media make it worse? Sure, but what's even worse is people being uninformed and listening crazy Facebook ****. Legit media is framing this realistically in the effects its having on the people and the economy. Facebook media is trying to tell you the pope has Corona & to not use Antibacterial soap to get people to click their links and give them ad revenue.

Sometimes the media is not the boogeyman and it's actually just that fact that this world is full of VERY stupid and frightened people.

I ask again, why are you on a theatre message board but never engage the theatre? Is it because you use your other account for that and this just your window to allow you to post conservative talking points handed down from Dear Leader?

Because this place it made to respond to posts and frankly if people didn't respond to stupid or made in bad faith posts this place would not be interesting... there's a reason the OT board moves at such a sluggish pace these days...

As a former researcher in one of the largest hospitals in the USA, I worked on programs to stop infectious diseases. Infectious diseases are very dangerous as we know.  Any off-topic forum that can inform the public as to the health aspects and dangers of infectious diseases is important.  The flu can be and is dangerous.  We do need better vaccines.  I am hopeful that this year's flu contagion is minimized as much as possible.

How old are you that you could have been a former researcher at a large hospital as well as being involved in 7 private sector businesses and also several start ups as you purported in the thread where you gave Bezos a rim job? Have you hit your triple digits yet? Oh... you haven't done any of this... you're just a middle aged conservative sad boy...

If you actually had been involved in a hospital during something like this you'd know that they're working around the clock to formulate plans for when this does eventually hit their hospital like it very likely will. I, actually, WORK for Critical Care & Pulmonary doctors unlike whatever fantasy you've concocted to support your lasted narrative.

And what else have you been, a cowboy, an astronaut, a big league baseball player? A high level researcher who was so successful, he's now peddling his products on Amazon where anyone can sell anything cause no legit retail stores would bother with him. The entire country of Italy is under quarantine now. AN ENTIRE COUNTRY. Has the flu ever done that? You think they did that cause of the news media? This is just another idiotic right wing talking point cause they're worried the stock market downturn will hurt Trump's re-election. Trump's comments that the coronavirus will just wash away in April like magic and people with the virus should still go to work can result in people dying. This isn't a game. First off, Covid is proving deadlier than influenza, but more importantly, there are FLU VACCINES. Class, can anybody tell Dan what even a partially effective influenza vaccine does to transmission rates? It rhymes with "seduces" so all together now:

The current flu vaccines don't protect you from all of the strains of influenza that are out there.  Even though I received a flu shot in October 2019, I got a viral infection (strain of the flu) that took me out for almost three weeks in January.   I lost 15 pounds during the process. I was too weak to make myself anything to eat and really felt so bad that I didn't want to eat.

I am "elderly" and last week I flew to Florida to visit my in-laws in Tampa. We went to a music festival on the waterfront and there were plenty of people there enjoying themselves. I went to NY Yankee Spring Training game which had over 10,000 people in attendance. One day, we drove to Orlando and spent the day at Disneyworld which Lord only knows the amount of people in the park - lol. Obviously, I am fine so my advice is don't live life being scared. Do the right things like washing your hands properly and the odd are quite low you will have problem.

For those who are interested in a non-sugar-coated look at what's going on, and more importantly, what we can all do to maximize our prevention steps and to think about those around us, I highly recommend this regularly revised document.

I never thought I'd say something like this, I wouldn't go to CDC for up-to-the-minute guidance, because they are being filtered and approved by Trump, and he doesn't understand public health at all.

I assume this has been addressed but this OP is ridiculous. Look at the mortality rate of Flu vs Covid-19. If this continues to spread globally it will kill hundreds of millions of people. It is a public health crisis that needs extreme measures to be contained.

Statistics show that even in cases where the strain of vaccine is not correct, the severity of cases in those who get the vaccine versus those that don't is lower. That doesn't account for every person's case, but on average it's true. You are better off getting the flu shot than rolling the dice and not.
