I was just told that the cast of DEH is no longer allowed to take photos at stage door. I've been seeing such wonderful interactions this week since Jordan joined the cast and I was wondering if something had happened?
Disclaimer: I of course understand the cast does not owe us photos or anything. I was just hopeful for when I go see the show.

I’m sure what happened is fans pushed the limits of the cast and the rules were established. They should have done this from the beginning. Those fans are insufferable. They drive the cast to insanity.

...I honestly don't think this is a new thing. Ben Platt didn't take photos after Opening, I don't think. It's not that they weren't allowed, they just didn't take them. When the shows popularity really took off, they started saying no photos. I think it depended on the actor though because I know some did.
I remember in 2017 they would let us take photos OF the actors but not with them. I was lucky because it took Rachel Bay Jones at least an hours to come out and there was less than 15 of us still waiting at that point and she asked us if we wanted photos and thanked us for waiting so long. The security guy told us people would be coming out still which is why the few of us didn't leave and it was worth it to talk to Rachel for as long as I did.

That's what happened when I saw the show in August, too. I got to meet the actors while my dad got pictures of them from behind me - Sammie Williams actually shared one of them on her Instagram account.

This definitely must be a recent change because I went to the Wednesday matinee on January 22nd and the cast members took photos with fans at the stage door. Perhaps this is due to Jordan being in the show? I’ve seen photos of people talking to Jordan at stage door but not any photos of them with Jordan.
When I’ve seen Evan Hansen it’s mostly been matinees and I’ve always seen people take photos with people at stage door. Maybe it’s due to the matinee crowd being a lighter crowd I’m not sure.
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
Another big thing is that it’s cold and flu season too, and since Jordan is in for a limited run, maybe they want to keep him and the other actors as minimally exposed as possible. (Just throwing that out there knowing stagedooring is harder in the winter.)
