Maybe I'm part of a very niche audience, but I'd love to see a musical about Tom Waits or using his music! I'm a fan of his musical of Woyzeck but I'm honestly not too sure if he's been involved in one since. I also think his life and personality is rather interesting enough for some kind of musical or play.

Again, super niche topic, but I'm curious what you all think of that?

This was before Woyzeck, but have you checked out his stage version of The Black Rider? I saw a regional production of it a few years back and while I didn’t love it, it was pretty interesting.

I don’t really know anything about his life so I can’t speak to that, but I certainly mind having another Tom Waits musical in the canon.

"The Black Rider," sounds interesting! I'll have to go digging for it, thank you!

I saw him in "Frank's Wild Years" with Steppenwolf back in the '80s.  I honestly don't remember too much about it (my memories of the musical numbers have been effectively overwritten by the performances on his "Frank's" solo album), and there doesn't seem to be much information on it online.  I did find this, however, and it's pretty interesting, particularly for those of us in this particular niche:

Quite a cast of Steppenwolf regulars, William Schimmel on accordion, plus "incidental trickery" by Teller!

I always wanted him to cover The Beatles' For No One for this very reason, MarkBearSF.

At the same time (I believe on the same day!) that he released his Blood Money album, adapted from Woyczek, he also released an album called Alice, inspired by Alice In Wonderland.  I would love to see that theatricalized, although I don't know if there would be a role in it for him.

Alice is also the concept album accompanying an experimental musical of the same name, about Lewis Carroll sublimating his complicated feelings for/about children into "Alice in Wonderland."

Yes, 'Alice' is one I also knew off. Completely forgot to mention it!
