Work Light appears to still be planning it, presumably launching in 2020.

I'm sorry to hear they're holding back the rights. I know the school edition quickly became one of the most produced titles for Broadway Licensing (that was part of the e-mail/marketing blast a few months in) and the available perusal is solid.
Strange. I just finished playing Wadsworth in a production. How recently have you been applying for rights?
HamilHansen - last time we applied was this past spring, when we were selecting our 2019-2020 season. Where was your production??
It seems that they’re only allowing schools/colleges to do it, but it could be wrong.
Work Light has had it on their page for years now, with no updates
And yes, I see ads constantly on social media from Broadway Licensing for “Clue” saying “now available for licensing”... but whenever we inquire we seem to get the same generic answer from the people at BL. They seem to only be know what they’re being told.
I just wish they’d be a little more frank about the restrictions, as I imagine we can’t be the only theatre wanting to produce this and waiting on the rights.

I too share your frustrations. I have applied for the rights a handful of times over the last two or so years for my community theater group and been denied with the excuse that the tour is happening. I can understand only allowing schools the rights to the student edition but much to my surprise another local theater group within a few miles of us were granted the rights and have announced it for their 2020 season. I wish they were more open about the restrictions. I'm still not sure why they were granted the rights and not us. I've inquired to no avail. Just the standard tour response.

Just out of curiosity, are they doing this version that's adapted from the film screenplay, or that rather dreadful musical version that Samuel French has available?

It's based on the movie. I wasn't too impressed with the script I read because I felt like it deviated too far from the screenplay than I would have liked. It still might be fun to see if it ever tours though.

It is the Hunter Foster written adaptation that is being licensed through Broadway Licensing. It just seems arbitrary who they are licensing the show too (which I understand is their choice in the end, but we just want to give them money and do a show).

That would explain how we obtained rights, then.
