Steppenwolf Theater Company has a production of Tracy Letts' LINDA VISTA - all sounds quite promising.  Anyone seen it yet?

I saw it last night and thought it was a great production. I have not seen other Tracy Letts plays, so I went in not really knowing what to expect. It is very well-written and is funny, engaging and a bit tragic. The characters are very compelling. I found myself liking and hating Wheeler, the main character, from moment to moment. Ian Barford as Wheeler and Cora Vander Broek as his love interest were fantastic. There wasnt a weak link in the cast. The running time was close to 3 hours - but it felt shorter. It never dragged. I am still digesting all the meanings and metaphors from the play and I love a show that still has me thinking a day or two later.

I was a little skeptical when I saw the running time because it was a weeknight and I was tired - but it didnt feel long to me and I didnt struggle to stay awake or engaged. Hopefully you and your husband will enjoy it.

I went on the first preview and Tracy Letts was in the top of the orchestra writing notes. During intermission I was lucky enough to have a small conversation with him and get my program signed. So happy. For the play, it was very very very well written. So complex and so many metaphors. Felt very NOW. The story was captivating. If this play was a movie it's definitely rated R. The actors give it their all, especially the lead man who is on stage the entire time...seriously how can someone remember all those lines AND act as well he did?! lol I wanna see it again.

I saw it in Chicago during the original run; it looks like it's the same cast for LA.  I enjoyed it a lot, despite the fact that it's yet another "middle-aged white guy going through a crisis" play.  I had no memory of the run time being 3 hours, though!  Like others have said, it didn't seem like it.  And the actors are very brave, particularly in the very explicit (for stage) sex scenes.  Worth seeing, for sure.  I liked it A LOT more than Letts's THE HERD, which was his most recent play at Steppenwolf.

saw it over the weekend and highly recommend

razor sharp writing that propels this fascinating, entertaining and compelling story along with terrific performances across the board - and the soundtrack of Steely Dan.  I love Steely Dan and i love the writing of Tracy Letts

my one note would be to loose the music (which isn't steely dan) playing in that final scene.  found it a bit distracting

and...trying to piece together what the consistent use of airplane noise is at the end of certain scenes.  is that because the airport in san diego is smack dab in the middle of the city?

and i believe i saw mr tracy lets sitting in the back - the show opens this week in LA see if you are in town

"I liked it A LOT more than Letts's THE HERD, which was his most recent play at Steppenwolf. "

The Herd is a quite lovely family play by Rory Kinnear and played at Steppenwolf two seasons before Linda Vista. The Minutes was Tracy Letts most recent play at Steppenwolf and probably what you meant to type.

I wonder if Center Theater Group would ever do more of these sort of collaborative productions?

I am still thinking about this show - days after seeing it.  Cannot wait to read the reviews.

Yes, of course; I was mistaken.  It was "The Minutes."  Thanks for the correction.
