I’m looking into getting TDF membership for my upcoming NYC trip (I’m from the UK) and have seen a lot of references on various message boards/social media to “National Membership”.

It looks like it’s a much cheaper TDF membership option for people who live more than 100 miles from NYC.

However their site seems to be completely scrubbed of all reference to it and every link to it from articles/boards is dead.

Do they not do it anymore? Or is it something hidden you have to email and ask about?

Thanks in advance.

If it turns out it isn’t a thing anymore, do you think normal TDF membership ($40) is worth it? I’ll be seeing around 8 shows on my trip and probably won’t be returning within the year. I’m going the week after Christmas so rush isn’t looking very tempting at those temperatures.

I joined TDF in the summer as a "national member," but they've changed their website so I couldn't find the same button from when I joined.  They basically just asked for my zip code, and then ensured that that zip code was the same on my billing address.  I'd say it's worth trying to contact them to ask.

As for the $40 membership, I'd say it probably depends on which shows you're trying to see/how likely they are to be on TDF, and what kinds of discounts you would have otherwise.  While TDF says it can be partial view, I've never gotten a bad seat for the shows I've seen, and more often than not the seats have been side orchestra, but still with great sightlines.

Which shows were you thinking of?

I've pinged them an email so hopefully something comes of it!

I'm open to seeing many things including off-broadway.
In terms of broadway shows I'd like to make room for King Kong, My Fair Lady, Torch Song, Lifespan of a Fact, Anastasia, Pretty Woman, and Cher.

Not all of those would be available on tdf so I'm not sure if the $40 membership would be worth it, but the $12 national membership definitely would, so fingers crossed!

I've seen King Kong, Torch Song, and Anastasia on TDF fairly recently, but not sure what that will be like when you go, since they might get an uptick from the holiday season.  Either way, best of luck!

I don't know if you ever heard back, but I emailed asking the same question (mine expires at the end of the month) and they said they discontinued it in August.
