I have a theory about the wicked movie. What if they’re taking inspiration from les Miserables and won’t announce the cast until September? They’ll start filming in March and they’ll wrap in June. Then June through November will be post production.

I don’t remember, but did they film Les Mis THEN announce the cast afterward?

I don’t think so, but they were cutting it very close with some of those announcements. And then post was incredibly rushed.

Ah gotcha. Hoping we get a decent cast for this. Les Mis was pretty great, but please, please no Amanda Seyfried for Glinda

According to its Wikipedia page, prior to its December 2012 release, the Les Miz film announced most of its cast in September and October 2011. Rehearsals started in January 2012, then principal photography lasted from March to June 2012.

There's definitely still time for Wicked to be on track for its December 2019 release date, but I remain a bit apprehensive given how many special effects will be required for it.

I’m not following the film trail but I am interested to see who will be in it. Are there any clear front runners for the two women and other leads or is it still in rumor mill phase? I so hope they cast legit actors with voices and don’t go the money grab route and cast pop princesses.

Avengers: Infinity War only needed like 6 months for special effects, and that's a movie that doesn't have a single shot without some kind of work done. Of course Wicked won't have near the same budget, but I wouldn't worry if they announce something until the end of the year.
