If true, a smart career move. And maybe a step in the right direction for Ricky on a personal level.

Anyway, this gives me an oppertunity to post my favorite Ricky link.

Ricky life-inside-the-plexiglas-closet Martin would be perfect for the role.

I think Ricky would make an adorable Link in Hairspray, but would definitely go see him in BFO.

I actually think thats a smart move. Ricky has the popularity and Broadway experience. He has the energy for Peter Allen and I think he could match Hugh's performance. Just remember to shake your bon-bons.
When is Hugh leaving (specific time or date?) Everyone keeps talking about replacing Jackman, so am assuming relatively soon. Perhaps after the Tony's?

Yes, cause Peter Allen really looks hispanic..... Ricky is defiitely GAY enough to play the part.

The show is closing when Jackman leaves..its not even selling out or filling the house with him there.... its a lackluster show with a lackluster score and not even a big star can save it from drowning.

I've heard of a black Tevye who was phenomal at portraying the beloved Jewish character. Anything could happen. Looking the part isn't everything Broadwaylilhead.

Oh and Ricky has the energy!

Fiddler is also fictional unlike the story of Peter Allen, so yes- looking the part is important.. you couldnt have an asian, hispanic, or black man play the part because that's not who the man was...

Ethnic casting in fictional roles such as Phantom, Fiddler, and Chicago is easier to pull off because they aren't based on actual people.

I see your point. Fictional characters are easier to work with, but that doesnt change my opinion of Ricky Martin.

He doesn't look any more different from Peter Allen than Hugh Jackman does. His skin tone is actually probably closer to the preternaturally tanned Allen's anyway.

I like Ricky Martin but please. He has enough trouble with his English. A Latino/Aussie just isn't on. I just couldn't see
( or believe) him singing I Still Call Australia Home. Could you?

Does anyone honestly believe that a single person buying a ticket to see Ricky Martin in The Boy From Oz will care if he is convincing as an Aussie? They could probably cast Beyonce as Peter Allen and still sell out and I don't think a single Beyonce fan or producer would complain.

Well, as a avid BFO fan, I think this would be a HUGE mistake. Its just scary in my eyes. I'd rather the show close than have Ricky Martin take over. And that is my honest opinion. I guess you can say that I am no where near being a Ricky fan.

However, if the rest of the cast were to stay on, I would by all means go and support them.
