The new play starts tonight at The Public,! "Kate is a whip-smart lobbyist who doesn’t waste her time on anyone who can’t get elected, stay elected and help her clients get what they want. Kate thinks Representative Sydney Millsap is a political neophyte whose staunch ideals are going to cost her a burgeoning political career.

But Representative Millsap and her high-minded principles turn out to be more resilient than Washington was expecting, and for the first time Kate is faced with a choice that might change everything for her: back the system, or back what she believes in? "

Having not been a fan of DRY POWDER (same writer/director), I have chosen to wait in this one until I hear word of mouth Early reports are appreciated as always

Bumping because I think the first preview has gotten out. Any reports on run time?

The ushers said it's 100 minutes. Which is about what it timed at last night - we started a bit late and ended just shy of 9 pm. The house looked pretty much full.

Some of the scenes are a bit repetitive, which makes the 100 minutes feel long at times, but it was a pretty good show. The show is set up well and you understand exactly who the characters are, what they do and what the show is about, which is why some of the scenes feel unnecessary. Like, we get it. We're following. Hopefully some of it will be tightened and condensed during previews.

Gillian Jacobs started out a little hesitant but grew into it. If you're a fan of Aya's, you'll enjoy her here. Elsa Davis was strong. Zach was maybe the weak link, he seemed a bit unsure sometimes but could've been first preview jitters.
