I tried googling but no luck I really need advice bc I have to answer on Monday
I'm trying to get a job with New York State. I already passed the exam, received conditional offer, did drug, medical, physical fitness, psych and fingerprints. I know I passed fingerprints, drug and fitness. Today, the hr lady called me to say that she hasn't received my full clearance from Albany so she can't offer me an official position but she can offer me a temporary position in anticipation of my clearance then it would switch to an official position. This would allow me to get into the 4 week training that starts in 2 weeks. However, if my clearance doesn't come by the end of the training, she'd have to remove me from the payroll. She won't tell me if this is a usual situation like if Albany is backed up and they do this often or if it's a problem with me. I don't think I failed the psych, I did have some abnormal things in my blood work but nothing insane afaik. The state job pays 30% more and the benefits are way better. I'm just not sure what to do bc it seems like either way, I might be ruining my life. If I agree and I don't get clearance, then I have no job. If I say I'd rather wait until my clearance comes through, it might be 6-9 months before I get into another training class. It'd be so much easier if she'd give me some idea of how often this happens. My bff said that she probably wouldn't offer me a training spot if my situation was unusual and that they are probably trying to get people into the class faster than Albany can finish their papers. Logically, that sounds good but I don't want to have no job.
