"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Would love to take a moment to point out at this point that Come From Away and Great Comet now have more Drama Desk awards than Dear Evan Hansen, which theoretically should place them ahead for next weekend, unless the hype machine of DEH is unstoppable. Really hoping to see CFA and GC1812 repeat their success next week!

While factually correct, I don't think we can really make the comparison as DEH competed when it was Off-Broadway, while both CFA and COMET are competing as (mostly) new Broadway productions this year.

What? DEH has not changed, hardly at all, since it's transfer. Comet was ONLY eligible for limited awards this year since it truly changed so much. And then Come From Away is a broadway debut? I really don't understand your reasoning?
I loved Dolly and I loved Bette's performance but at this point, she is really seeming to be a poor sport when it comes to the awards. First the news with her not performing (which I know we don't know the real reason why) but now with her not even showing up to the Drama Desk Awards. It's not like she's on the other side of the country filming a movie, she is literally in the city performing and she had to know she had a very good chance of winning. Just a big disappointment.

Yeah. What a bummer. But maybe she had a good reason. She has been to the other ones. Maybe she hates these things. Who knows. I am still hoping she performs next week.

I was definitely holding out hope, mainly because her not performing just seems SO ludacris but after tonight, I'm not holding my breath. That being said, I wish they would perform "Elegance" instead of "Penny."

Sorry I wasn't exactly clear - what I mean is I don't think Off-Broadway shows are always rewarded at the same level as the Broadway productions at the Drama Desk awards. That's why I think it's unfair to compare DEH with COMET and CFA this year. Just my opinion.

I wonder if Bette just doesn't want to be the center of attention and therefore stays away. She has to make a difficult decision of being a part of the Broadway community or overshadowing the Broadway community.
