I caught Starting Here, Starting Now at Mufti tonight and mostly liked it. I had forgotten how catchy those tunes were, but some of the lyrics, especially for the females, make you cringe a little bit when all they can think about is finding the right man and getting married. Crossword Puzzle is such a fun song until you get to the end and she wishes she could be in the chapel getting married instead of using her brain and doing the crossword alone.

Despite the somewhat dated quality of some of the songs the actors put them over nicely with Krystal Joy Brown being the standout.

I think I prefer this revue to Closer Than Ever, even though that one seems to be performed more often. This was the perfect show for Mufti to tackle and worth a trek over to the York.

I love this musical but have never seen it live. What is the orchestration for the piece in performance?

A piano and bass- sometimes upright, sometimes electric.

Richard Maltby Jr directed this production and was in the audience this evening, as well as George Lee Andrews, who was the male singer in the original production.

Thank you! I'm going to try to see this when I'm in town next.
