Hey all,

My friend is ill and cannot make the show, she bought two tickets for Row G (Rear Mezz).  I will be in one of those seats but the other seat (17) is available.  She paid $350 each for them on Ticket network but will accept $275 for the one ticket.  Message me if interested, we can meet at the theater.  Thanks guys.

No, she should not have paid $350 for rear mezz seats, especially if there was a chance she couldn't make it. You're asking 5Xs the box office price for literally the last row and possibly worst seats in the house.

I don't think the OP was asking for justification of her friend's ticket-buying decision...?

I also bought rear mezz tickets for around $300 a few months (back in November) for a performance at the end of March through the re-sale on ticketmaster. While I would have LOVED to pay the original price, I don't think the OP needs to be schooled on whether or not she should have bought the tickets. And plus, at the time when she bought them, I'm sure she didn't think the friend would be sick. People need to chill.

Was she suppose to know that she was going to get sick and not be able to go?   Oy.

And I don't think I was asking for justification or response to my input, yet, this being an open forum you, as you have the right to do, freely chimed in with non-helpful 2 cents. Sorry, not sorry.

I suggest selling the tix for a little lower, maybe $100. People are selling orchestra seats for $350. You can also try to sell them on StubHub for the higher amount. Or stand out on the street before the show and sell to the cancellation line people who didn't get in.

Two things:

1)  "literally the last row and possibly worst seats in the house"

Actually, I think the rear mezz seats are better than the rear orchestra seats.  Also, rear mezz isn't partial view, which many of the box seats are, so those would be worse.

2) "I suggest selling the tix for a little lower, maybe $100."

Why?  Do you know what people are willing to pay to get into this show?  She could ask for $500 for the seat and somebody would buy it.

People are re-selling orchestra seats for 350....BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.   They are usually selling them for $500 -1400.

lol vdirects is the one that started a ridiculous thread about selling a ticket to Hamilton like 30 minutes before the show the other day...so his opinions on Hamilton tickets are a little skewed.

The seats were amazing, the show was perfection, and a great guy bought my ticket.  Right after the show, I went to Shake Shack and turned around after ordering and Daveed Diggs was standing there.   We chatted for a few minutes.  What a gorgeous, sweet, gracious man.  Thanks for the support guys on this thread, guys :)

Yeah, I sold an orchestra center seat for 350 right before curtain because something came up, which is why I know 350 for a 70 rear mezz seat is a rip off. Not sure where it got "ridiculous."

Not really bothered by group think or forum swarms/ bullying. I have an opinion and couldn't care less what the popular belief is and not scared off (  "the island"   ) just because the popular voice gets aggressive or rallies and orchestrates an attack (or "vote"   _).

As for the dumb a$$hole who commented on how my friend should spend her money or suggest she meant to get sick on PURPOSE:

I'd also like to know who the person was who suggested your friend "meant to get sick on PURPOSE." Sure wasn't me. Or is this your straw man? My stance was, and still is, that the ticket was very over-priced. Overpriced, in the first place before your friend bought it and overpriced for what you were trying to resale it for. That is just a plain fact (67 = 5.2xs less than 350). Basic math.  Glad you were able to find someone desperate enough or with a high enough disposable income to justify paying 5 times the price for a rear mezz ticket when they could have paid $50-100 more on StubHub or paid $300 to one of the regular scalpers outside the theater for an orchestra seat.

Sure, you didn't put it in those terms verbatim, but you wrote, "No, she should not have paid $350 for rear mezz seats, especially if there was a chance she couldn't make it." By that logic, nobody should buy tickets to anything EVER.

Give us all a break.

I think it was the 22-minutes-to-showtime timing where it got a bit ridiculous?

I sat in the rear mezz for In The Heights and it was a perfect seat, however, not for 300+ dollars. I would expect Lin to be sweating on me if I paid that much..

Just for the record -- nothing is "overpriced" so long as there are people willing to pay that price.   If you have something that people are willing to pay $1000 for, you'd have to be an idiot to say, "no that's too much.  Just give me $50".  And yes, vdirects, if YOU say YOU would do that, then YOU are an idiot.  Should we take a vote here?

Well I think the only "idiots" are immature people who hide behind keyboards making personal attacks to strangers on the Internet because they have different opinions. My girl friend and I were trying to buy Hamilton tickets the other day and we were just laughing at how tickets were going for $400 and $500 for balcony seats and all the suckers who were buying them! Some of you regulars need to chillax. This is not Reddit!
