They have not started rehearsals because this production is not going up until next May.

That would be a real nail-biter, though, seeing two animated movies go toe-to-toe at the Tonys. Can you imagine Ahrens and Flaherty Vs. the Lopezes for Best Score? It would be fierce!

But we don't have a crystal ball, unfortunately, and MUCH can change between now and then.

Does anyone have updates about this yet?

I'm pretty sure that Angela Lansbury was supposed to be reading for the workshop, but I'm not entirely sure.

Yes, she did.
And the production at Hartford Stage is still almost a year away. It is too early for updates.

My vote goes for Cheri Oteri for Anastasia. I think she'd be excellent and Cheri can sing.

I think Jennifer Damiano would be a great choice. I think she can easily capture the quirkiness of Anya as well as the grace as she becomes Anastasia.

I kind of think it might be the girl from Rocky/Ever After? I'm blanking on her name, but I think she'd be an interesting fit. Although she wasn't as quirky in Ever After as I would have hoped.

I think Emmy Rossum would be perfect as Anastasia!

I know it's not possible with her doing School of Rock (at least for the summer 2016 Hartford production), but man, Sierra Boggess would SLAY this role.

I'd love to see Alison Luff. I loved her rendition of "Journey to the Past."

Margo Seibert, and I would love her to play Anya/Anastasia.

Yeah. She'd "slay" that role. She'd kill it with boredom. Poor Anastasia already had a tragic end, why would you want the added insult of Sierra Boggess badly playing her? That is cruel. Just cruel. Sierra Boggess should be making coffee at the Starbucks in Mobile, Alabama.

The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat. Michael Riedel has been hating on HAMILTON since its triumphant run at The Public. This man is on a mission to pit down HAMILTON any chance he gets. He's pathetic...and the title of that article is beyond laughable.

That's from June- but even then, Anastasia was never coming to Broadway in the 15-16 season.
