This article mentions that someone else played Carole King in the workshops of Beautiful. Does anyone know who the actress was?

Love Vanessa Ray and Patti Murin- would love to see them take over the roles at some point, given that the show seems like it will run for a while...

Vanessa Ray is currently on Blue Bloods as pretty much a series regular so either she would have to do it for the time they are on hiatus or leave the show. I'd be sad to see her leave but it would be interesting to see her tackle this role

I'd like to see Lauren Molina tackle the role.

Wait, Vanessa Ray? As in Cece Drake from Pretty Little Liars? That's what showed up on my google.
Wow!!! Never knew she could sing!

Seeing Whitney Bashor in THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY made me think she'd be a sublime replacement for Mueller whenever she leaves the show.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I have heard that Debbie Shapiro Gravitte was involved as Caole at some point, though I don't know how reliable my source is.

somethingbypuccini, I believe Debbie Gravitte was involved at one point playing Genie Klein, Carole's mother.

It's my understanding that Vanessa Ray was Carole for the entire process developing the show but was unavailable for the actual production due to television commitments.

Ahh, that would make sense. I always thought she was a strange choice for the role.

I think they'll go the route of getting a contemporary pop/rock star to take over for Jessie.
