Certainly Clint's rambling, not seeming to understand how teleprompters work (he thought he needed to read off a paper or memorize the lines?) and saying that all the nominees were men right before he announced Leigh Silverman has to win for biggest train wreck.

Yeah, Drescher was tripped up by the teleprompter scrolling too quickly. That's not really her fault.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

I thought Fran was funny. Clint was a trainwreck and seemed like he had no idea what he was talking about. But the biggest trainwreck of the night goes to: Sting!
Fran was funny and knew she screwed up. I think she said "we ruined it." Sting was the worst by far.

Liberal Broadway invited asswipe Eastwood to present 2 awards after he dissed the President at the Republican Convention?????? Just cause he directed a movie based on a show????? Serves them right- he ****ed this one up as well. Fran can never do anything wrong- so lovable. TI and LL Cool Jay were the real train wrecks. WTF werte they doing there????????
Hugh Jackman was. Worst Tony opening number ever. Just when I didn't think it could get worse, he starts rapping... What. The. Hell.
edit - I expected some flames on this . But, let me correct a misconception. I do indeed know the opening was a hat tip to the Bobby Van bit. Yes, it's adorable. But, it didn't work in this context. It went on way too long and was a waste of talented nominees who were just background to his bounce. Would love to have seen something that said "THIS IS BROADWAY 2014", not "Hugh Jackman is in good shape" - I could watch any of his movies to see that.

Eastwood is no good because he dissed the President? Oh I forgot you cannot say anything negative about him . You have to praise him even though he does not deserve it. Eastwood is an icon but he said something negative about TPOTUS . His whole career is ****canned because he "dissed" him. Oh boo hoo.
Hey, now, discriminating against someone for political views is wrong too. Not saying you need to like him or respect him (or his views), but banning accomplished people we disagree with from speaking or presenting solely for their political beliefs is fairly dangerous. He could've been left off the guest list for 100s of other reasons - but narrowing on his political beliefs leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I liked the opening but I also like the movie so I might be the best judge.

I thought Zachary Levi looked genuinely angry that Fran threw him under the bus and said that he went too far ahead, so it threw her off. Just my take on it, but it seemed written all over his face.
Fran, Clint, Sting and the others being dissed were there because they're big stars and it was a TV special. Duh. And stars tripping over lines, mispronouncing things, not sure of where to exit, tripping and so on brings a sense of spontenaity to the proceedings. You must realize that most people are *watching* the show, not critiquing it as many of us do.
I'm still trying to figure out the entire Clint Eastwood thing. That was tragic. I think I'm over the Fran thing now. Thinking back, she actually did handle herself quite well. I'm still not sure what the problem was though. I'm guessing teleprompter, as mentioned earlier in this thread.
