This is an exciting season. They have a great cast lined up and I'm most excited about The Most Happy Fella. I can't wait to see how Laura Benanti takes on Rosabella. I love seeing her take on these classic roles just as much as I enjoy her in new material.
Little Me has always been one of my guilty pleasure musicals. I saw the original 3 times with Sid Caesar; the horrible revival in 1983 with Coco/Garber; and the Roundabout version with Martin Short, whom I loved, but didn't like some of the changes they made. IMHO, Christian Bale is a perfect choice and am dying to see which version they'll use. Will they have different performers doing Old Belle and Young Belle? Fingers crossed.
As far as I'm aware, they're doing the original version of LITTLE ME with an Older and Younger Belle, Borle playing the original 7 roles Caesar did, and George Musgrove rather than Lucky.
I love the show - perhaps the single funniest book for a show ever written. One change I didn't like in the last revival is that they reported Fred Poitrine's cause of death as a "pinky wound", as opposed to the original and far funnier "digit wound".
Why us Little Me a guilty pleasure. It has a fabulous score and hysterical book. The original production was staged by Bob Fosse. No reason to feel guilty about liking this show. It's one of the better ones.
