PIPPIN announced a US tour starting September 2014. Anyone think it might make a Toronto stop?

A tour of Pippin played the Royal Alex a few years back. Would Mirvish push yet another production on their subscribers considering they just saw the same show? Not sure.

Anyone hear of any rumours for the next sit-down? After Les Mis closes in February, Mirvish will be sit-downless.

With the "Into The Woods" film coming out this year, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Into The Woods start in Toronto and move to Broadway, like Les Miserables. It would be nice to also see Wicked back in Toronto, as it has done very well here in the past. Newsies has been confirmed for the 2014/2015 season, and Pippin would be nice. Maybe we might even get a Lloyd Webber show! Im looking forward to the official announcement!

I wouldn't hold my breath for an Into the Woods announcement. Recently, there was already a failed attempt at transferring the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre production that played the Delacorte Theater in New York's Central Park.

As a subscriber, I'd like to see the Pippin Broadway revival tour make a stop in Toronto. I've already seen it and enjoyed it immensely compared to the Goodspeed Opera House production that stopped in Toronto a few years ago.

When does Motown begin its tour? I wouldn't be surprised to see a Toronto date. Same goes for Kinky Boots.

There's speculations on some Wicked forums (since the 2NT dates are overdue to be updated) that the tour will sit down in Toronto for an extended stay over the summer...Some are also speculating that it will be a "Toronto sit down"...Though I haven't heard any rumblings through the theatre grapevine at all about a potential "Canadian Cast/engagement." Can anyone comment on this?

Haven't heard anything RE a Wicked sit down. Would be interesting, though.

Titanic: The Musical has just been announced, it's going to New York as well so I assume it's a pre-broadway tryout. I've heard of the name, but I don't really know anything about; is it any good?

Titanic is a Tony Award winning musical. It will be at Royal Alex for the Summer before returning to Broadway.

Titanic is probably one of my favourite scores. Some really great music. I never got to see the original production (or any production as I don't think it's ever been done in TO or maybe even Canada) so I'm very excited this is coming to Toronto. Does anyone know if it is a full production or a chamber production like the one recently done in the UK?

So we know Titanic and Newsies are coming. All That Glimmers, last I heard, was to have its pre-Broadway run here. Kinky Boots, Cinderella, the re staged Phantom will all be on the road soon if not already. Pretty sure Phantom will be a shoe-in. Evita maybe?

A sit-down of Wicked at this point is a laughable idea. We should have had one 10 years ago, that would have been nice. To get a sit down now would be insulting if it wasn't such a joke. Although this is Toronto where most people's heads are up their asses so nothing would surprise me. The current production of Les Mis should have been a big lesson to Mirvish and the city - Toronto CAN put on a really great sit down AND sustain it AND get a lot of press AND make a lot of money. Does anyone else find it rich that Mirvish was just celebrating that this past holiday season was their busiest period ever, with all of their theatres full and breaking sales records yet David's still trying to say that Toronto has too many theatres so he can tear down the Princess of Wales?

Couldn't agree with you more. This city, after all, sustained long runs years before our population is what it is today. Maybe this season will be more incentive to bring back more sit downs? Or maybe that's optimistic...Sometimes I get the impression Mirvish's heart isn't as in the theatre as we'd all like to hope.

It's definitely not. Theatre isn't his first love, he's into books and (mainly) contemporary art. We may have had long runs in the past but remember in the 90's (when we had the most/longest) most of those were actually losing money and Livent was hiding it. Still, with the right shows and the right stars we could do it. Les Mis with Karimloo proved that.

So Book Of Mormon, Newsies, Titanic and Wicked have all been announced; Mirvish better hurry up because it's starting to seem like the "announcement" isn't going to be much of a suprise by the time they let it out.

Ouzounian says that the TBA musical will be "chosen from one of the hits now running on Broadway", but on the Mirvish site it is only identified as "a new mystery musical". Is it likely that this is "All That Glitters"? I'm kind of hoping it's not.

I posted the Mirvish announcement in a "new thread". I gave the same name, and I have no way of removing it. If one of the moderators is reading this, please remove the other 2014/2015 thread. I just got overexcited. My apologies!

Kinky, Newsies and Arcadia are exciting; But everything else isn't really interesting to me. It's nice to hear Kinky Boots is getting a sit-down production; It should do very good here in TO.

I have one major problem with the lineup and that is "Dinosaur Zoo LIVE". I know it's a "Bonus" show, but from the pictures this seems like a show that would be at Wonderland..

Hopefully the un-announced show is Pippin, I'm itching to see the new revival!

It's also weird that Jersey Boys is hidden...

I know Ouzounian said that the "mystery" musical is currently running on Broadway, but part of me hopes that it is actually a transfer of Chicago Shakespeare Theater's Gypsy with Louise Pitre. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it is Matilda the Musical or the Pippin revival.

With respect to All That Glitters, my guess is that there have been hiccups with developing the musical and that it has been delayed to another season... if it still plans to hold the pre-Broadway run in Toronto.

The Pippin Tour doesn't have dates for Dec/Jan - so that is one option.

The Cinderella Tour is already booked over the holidays.

The Matilda tour doesn't open until May 2015, and not in Toronto - so it isn't an option.

The Phantom tour plays it's last booked date before the Holidays Nov. 30 and has no more bookings until February. So - it's also open for booking and an option I guess.

Oh - and the Motown tour isn't booked in January either. But it has bookings through Dec. 28 in Florida.

Edit: nevermind - that Tour goes as of now Florida to Denver, so Toronto isn't a very economical optional at all. So back to between Pippin and Phantom. Updated On: 2/21/14 at 06:01 PM

That's kind of interesting. Both Pippin and Phantom have been subscription shows in the last few years. These are new productions, but possibly the marketing works better as a TBA show if it's one of those. I'd be pretty happy with either one.

Evita and Ghost are also only booked through the summer.

There's also going to be a Joseph tour. Weren't we supposed to get a production not long ago that fell through? These are all also options.

I didn't see any press release, but Mirvish just uploaded a Flashdance the Musical trailer to their YouTube channel.

Anyone know why?
