Thanks, tazber. Normally a new and BIG musical like this one would have either already completed the recording prior to the Bway opening or gone to the studio very soon after the opening. In olden days, most cast recordings were done on the Sunday following the opening date. Since everything else seems to get recorded, I couldn't imagine Big Fish wouldn't, given it's pedigree.
I wonder if they will record any of the songs dropped since Chicago. I realize that is unlikely given the economics/time constraints of recording. But there could be some "extras"
The most likely thing to happen would be them releasing demos as digital exclusives like they did with that cut song from THE ADDAMS FAMILY. That seems to happen rather frequently, although it's usually only one song.

Don't even get me started on the whole hubbub about "Clandango" (the original opening number from Chicago tryouts) being recorded and released on the OBCR when it fact it was not! lol. Still upset about that; I would have rather heard that than one demo. lol.
The Witch and French Cow Torch songs from Spamalot are two I have been dying to hear for years.
I saw both numbers in performance and they were wise cuts. Burn Her wasn't awful, but it was rather trite and not very witty. As a result, it felt flat and they obviously wanted to streamline Ramirez's character. Using another female in the cast would have just created a bump in the show's continuity. They probably could have written a better scene to use, but when the show was in previews in Chicago, I imagine their time was limited and they were only focused on edits. This number and The Cow Song were the obvious wink links in the show.
The Cow Song was just dull. They were clearly trying to find something else for Ramirez to do, but it completely halted the show for absolutely no reason and just before the first act finale. The momentum was lost and trying to pick up the scene afterward was just bizarre and awkward. Ramirez in the cow dress and beret was a bit embarrassing to watch and the song itself was pointless and completely unforgettable. Believe me, you're not missing anything.
