Willemijn Verkaik is a mix of Menzel and Block

Anyone else have this weird feeling that Willemijn Verkaik comes across as a perfect in between (voice wise) of Idina Menzel (whos Elphaba was strong but breathy - not sure if that is the right adjective, it's late) and Stephanie J. Block who was a such a fierce powerhouse beltress (it was all diaphragm/chest voice). Her voice really reminds me of both of them in their best moments.

It seems like Willemijn Verkaik's voice is just perfect for the role. She's a super strong actress as well. Haven't seen an Elphaba I liked as much in a while.

Anyone else hear what I hear?

Oh yeah I hear it, she sounds just like Menzel just with all the terrible extracted :)

I do think Willemijn's voice is amazing, but I don't think she sounds anything like Idina Menzel or Stephanie Block. Willemijn's voice is pretty distinctive (to me anyway).

Willemijn is such an amazing actress. I'm glad she's finally come to Broadway so America can enjoy her Elphaba too :)

I think Willemijn is unique. Her voice as well as her acting.

I don't get the Menzel/Block vibe... but her speaking voice does remind me a little of Jodie Foster.
