As a vocalist, I have no problem stating that Barbra Streisand is in a class by herself. That being said, I have never been a huge fan of Ms. Streisand. I like her well enough and own many of her recordings. It's been long time since I've gotten excited about one of her later recordings, but according to the press release posted on BWW today "Release Me" does indeed sound exciting -- for numerous reasons.
Her recording of How Are Things In Glocca Morra/Heather On The Hill is worth the price of the cd. The track listing on scratches the surface of what is in the vault. Was hoping for a double cd of material. Would love officially released versions of Make Our Garden Grow, Shall We Dance (cut from The King & I medley), A Piece of Sky (single version), On My Own - the list goes on and on.
HOME might possibly be the opening # of the upcoming Brooklyn Show/tour. Like "as if I never said goodbye". The CD is really a Broadway Album 2.5..w/ a QVC extra of Make My Garden Grow...maybe. We still have Gypsy casting aand GUILT TRIP and oscar tribute to Hamlish all on the horizon. BARBRA IS BACK !!
I am a Huge Streisand Fan and hope this turns out better than her last Disc "What Matters Most"--which I found to be very Boring in Nature. If I lived out there---I would so be at one of her concert Dates in Brooklyn. Hoping she hits the West Coast Next!
