Title really explains all I have to ask. It looks good and I love most of the cast so I was just wondering if it is worth it. It might be to early to tell, but are there any plans for an extension or another life after this? Thanks guys!
I'm here now (intermission) sitting on the left side of the theatre and I would come back to this show in a heartbeat...just from Act 1! The staging is beautiful, they sound fantastic, Pasek&Paul music is amazing as always and Lindsey Mendez is absolutely fantastic.
Also, Annaleigh ashford is hysterical as Marcy. Plus, who can go wrong with Chris Gattelli choreography?!
I did 30 under 30 and my ticket with tax was $34.50 for 6th row. Totally worth it!!
Just saw it tonight. Worth seeing, and worth paying, no matter where the seat.
It needs some work, particularly the beginning of Act Two and a sloppy section in Act One. But you can tell that it is well on its way to getting done.
Lindsay Mendez's performance is worth the price of admission alone. And with a few more performances, so will Derek Klena's. There are some truly amazing numbers, but a few melodies get repeated just a little too much.
But is well on its way to something truly special. And mark my words: if you have ever been the target of a relentless, d*uchebag bully [as many of us have been], you will have a visceral experience. Mendez pretty much chewed me up and spit me out tonight. /end melodramatic gush-fest.

I saw it last night and I really liked it. I overheard that they are making large revisions very soon, which might be a good thing because I felt that there were sections that needed some work (especially in the second act). But Mendez is absolutely wonderful and I would definitely recommend it!
"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott
I found much to like in the musical, and I would recommend that anyone who has the opportunity (and, of course, the interest) should see it. Lindsay Mendez is excellent, and has most of the score's best music. (It also doesn't hurt that she's a dead ringer for Lili Taylor, especially when done up in the flip hairdo) And Derek Klena's voice is amazing, even if his acting is a touch wooden. The book is strong The score is a little reprise-heavy at times, but I left with a good deal of the music in my head. Mantello's direction is solid, and the physical production is very attractive.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

After Eight. Every time you post about a show, it makes me want to 1. Punch two kittens, 2. Go see that show and enjoy the HELL out of it, 3. Punch another kitten. <3

I liked the show well enough when I saw it recently -- a good score and book and a more than able cast. I found the show rather unwieldy in the second act, somehow. There's no doubt where the show is heading, and it takes a rather drastic turn toward the very end, I can't go into more details without hitting spoiler territory.
If they smooth it out a bit, and get Josh Segarra to stick to one accent, they'll have a winner, I think. A good and moving little show.

Would someone please tell me how Josh Segarra is getting work? Either he was sick last night AND when I saw Lysistrata Jones, or he's just a plain old terrible singer.

I didn't mind Segarra's singing, and he's certainly easy on the eyes, but his wandering accent was a problem. Where is that guy supposed to be from?

I, too, am puzzled by Josh Seggara's success as of late.
I know leading men with a particularly masculine energy are in short supply, but in the last three shows I've seen him in (DOGFIGHT, LYSISTRATA JONES, and FAT CAMP at NYMF,) Seggara's displayed an incredibly problematic singing voice with little to no charisma. I know for a fact that Robert Lenzi, who's swinging all the male roles in DOGFIGHT, is an infinitely better singer who I'd argue is much more physically attractive, if that's what they were going for. I guess he skews somewhat between type for the three central roles, which is probably why he's covering.
I'm also tired of Nick Blaemire giving the same exact performance in each and every show I see him in, which also irked me in DOGFIGHT, but that's another story.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
For this 30 under 30 thing, is it ANY age under 30? Could I bring someone who is 15, and he is eligible for that promotion? We both watched the movie and we both enjoyed it enough for us to consider going. Thanks!
