No Broadway leading lady can play Gaga. She's too young. None of the current ladies of note on the boards could read that young on film. Sorry.

1. Why a biopic needs to be made about a young woman who has released two records and who thus far has neglected to do something interesting like die young; and
2. If such a movie must be made, why can't she play herself?
(Just to be clear. None of this is a knock against Lady Gaga. She seems like a nice girl to me.)
A biopic needs to be made because she has to strike while the iron is hot. She needs to tell the mythological tale of her horribly bullied and abused existence so that all the Little Monsters can shell out their cash.
Don't get me wrong. I love Gaga, but she is awfully maudlin even though she attempts to be uplifting and I truly believe that she fabricates much of history to suit her audience or whatever demographic she wants to impress.

It has been stated that this is an unauthorized Lifetime Movie that Gaga is NOT happy with, so in all honesty her "real fans" should not be commercializing it.
