Ramirez knocks the song out of the ballpark and into the stratosphere. I'd love to see what she could do with "Rainbow High" and the rest of the score.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Great! Imagine what she would do if she learned the lyrics.

Love her voice. I wish she'd come back to Broadway. She needs a big star vehicle.

The show itself needs some work, but Lippa's WILD PARTY would make one hell of a star vehicle for someone like Ramirez.

I was actually there. She sounded incredible live. No, that is not my video. Yeah, she needs a starring role on Broadway as soon as Grey's Anatomy is done or if she leaves before that.

Isn't this going to be the last season?

No idea. Shonda Rhimes said something about it not, but I guess it is up to ABC for it to get renewed, at this point. That's what I've been reading anyway.

Fantastic. Just wonderful.

Ugh, and we're stuck with Elena Roger, who could only dream of singing the song that well.

Since I'm on a Spelling Bee kick today...
Chimerical- Unreal, magic, visionary, wildly fanciful, highly unrealistic: Sara Ramirez is Elena Rogers' matinee alternate.

I don't think she's necessarily right for the role of Eva Peron.

But she's certainly right for something!

Is the stage adaptation of For the Boys really sucky? (Probably a rhetorical question.)

But she needs that kind of star vehicle to really show her voice, comic, and dramatic talents.

Oh great, another "Sara Ramirez should be Evita" thread.

I actually agree she'd be great in another role. She doesn't fit this production of the show.

She's amazing in this clip I'll give her that but she is the wrong type to play Eva Peron in EVITA.

That remark had no bearing on her acting abilities. I am well aware of her talent as an actress, but again she is the wrong type physically for the role of Eva Peron in EVITA. Just because she can sing it does not mean she is appropriate for the role.

I'm sure back in the day Julie Andrews could sing the entire score of WEST SIDE STORY without batting an eyelash but that doesn't mean she was appropriate for the role of "Maria" in any production of the piece.

^ I totally get what you are saying. As much as I love Sara, which is a lot, I know there are roles she would not be good for, just like any other actor. I don't know Evita really well, so I wasn't aware that she wouldn't be perfect. Don't tell her though because I read in different articles and have heard her say that it would be a dream role for her.

That being said it was really refreshing to hear the words BUENOS AIRES, RIO DE LA PLATA, FLORIDA, CORRIENTES and NUEVE DE JULIO pronounced correctly!

It was refreshing to hear all of the high notes hit, too. That's something we won't hear very often when that Roger woman comes over.

Elena was great when I saw the production in London. Definitely different from what most pre-conceived notions should be, but she definitely proved to be a star and brilliant in this production.

Though there's no need for a revival of Man of La Mancha, I'd love to see her as Aldonza.
