So Alex Ellis will be playing the role of Brenda Strong in tonight's performance of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. I was just wondering if anybody is going to see tonight's show, and if they know if Jay Armstrong Johnson is going on as Frank Abagnale Jr.
Honestly? She was so much better than Kerry. I thought that she was wonderful! Alex and Aaron had great chemistry together and I definitely bought the relationship more than I did with Kerry. She has a absolutely stunning voice--her "Fly, Fly away" gave me chills.
and no, Jay wasn't on Updated On: 7/23/11 at 12:07 AM
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

Jay says he still has no dates booked to go on! . Aaron missed shows a lot during n2n after his return from Seattle... but maybe he has a goal to not miss any for CATCH. I heard Dan Radcliffe and John Larroquette are aiming to not miss a single show during their run...
Yes, and prior his hiatus fron n2n, Aaron had missed only one performance at Second Stage, Arena Stage, and Broadway combined. He's also a very dedicated performer who shows up and does his job.
I find it interesting how much people elevate understudies nowadays. Not that it's a bad thing; I think it's great that, for example, somebody started this thread to let us know that Alex is going to be on during Kerry's vacation. But some people seem to be crazy obsessed with understudies. I remember how some of the "loyal" (read: crazed) fans of n2n were screaming for blood because Marin Mazzie didn't call out on Jessica Phillips' last day as the Diana understudy. Is this borne out of one's obsession with a show, which seems to be becoming more and more common?

Even though I'm a huge N2N fan, and I've bonded with a lot of the people through the show, a lot of N2N fans are really competitive with each other, and I think it became a game of who can see the most understudies for a lot of people.
I love the video of Alex singing Fly Fly Away from the At This Performance concert, and I'm really looking forward to seeing her as Brenda if I can make it!
I think you're right, Meg. The obsessive fans of that show were a special breed.
