Hi! I need you lovely Broadway gorgeous people to advise..I have a cow of a travel agent selling me a package but..I need U TO HELP I'm bringing Moma Rose and siblings from Scotland for a once in a lifetime trip to NY in July for 5 days. I need 2 rooms with 2 beds in each of 'em...with easy walking distance to all major theatres...hotels or apartments....our budget is "who cares as long as we can walk everywhere cause we'll be dead soon". I'll worry about what to see later..is Elf still on?...what's the show curtain like..blah blah...I'll wear my kilt if that helps.

Wherever you stay, make sure you check the Bedbug Registry first. It's just bedbugregistry.com.

Before I moved here a few years back, whenever I would come up, I'd stay at the Paramount Hotel. I believe they have a 25% off code on their fb fan page right now too, which is pretty nice. It's a very clean place, which is the most important thing in my book.

And there have been some negative comments about the cleanliness of the Milford.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn Manhattan/Times Square South and I was very pleased. It was clean, the staff was friendly, and it wasn't far from the theatres or Penn Station.

Elf is closed and if you wear your kilt we request that you wear it "properly" Where to stay?

I'd recommend the Marriott Marquis hotel. It's right on Broadway between 45th and 46th. You'll be very close, have a great view of everything from the room (if you're on the upper floors), and will be comfortable.

I've also had relatives stay at the Hotel Edison which is very near the Marquis. They've enjoyed that, and it probably has a bit more character but fewer "creature comforts" than the Marquis.

Good luck, travel safely, and welcome to you all!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I always loved staying at the Hotel Edison on 47th. It was the first one I stayed in on my very first NYC trip, so it holds a special place in my heart. The diner is tasty and the hotel is friendly and clean.

I had a friend stay at the Milford this week, and he stays at alot of hotels. He said that the Milford was clean, and his room had a new bed, new carpet, new paint job etc. I haven't stayed at the Milford in years now, but it used to be my standby for a budget friendly, clean, Times Square hotel room.

I also stayed at the Paramount, but I disliked the low beds. If you have older people going, that might be a consideration.

If budget is no issue, get a deluxe room at the Marriot Marquis. It comes with access to a guest lounge with breakfast and pre-show appetizers. Both times I stayed there were very enjoyable.

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

Also try the Apple Core Hotels. Google them. I have stayed at the Hotel at Times Square a few times and it is clean, close, affordable and stay is friendly. It's cheap too, by NYC standards. :)

The Milford got a complete overhaul, didn't it? It was closed when I was last in NY in September. I booked it again for my next trip in May so I'm also hoping for a freshly renovated room.

If you really don't care about price I recommend The Muse, right in Times Square. My first adult trip to NYC, I stayed there to treat myself, and it was wonderful!

Someone above also said The Millennium. I stayed there last summer because I got a very good deal on-line, and it was awesome too. Very nice and you are only a few blocks from any show you want to see.

Have a great time!

Correct me if I am wrong but the OP isn't necessarily looking for a cheaper hotel.

I always suggest The Kimberly. I noticed you said easy walking to the theaters and I don't know if that may be an issue for someone but the Kimberly is on 50th between 2nd & 3rd. No bedbugs. A lot of my friends stay there when they go for theatre and I know a few people who work there. I enjoy the walk from there to the theaters. Nice place. Not really cheap though.

I've stayed at both the Marriott Marquis and Crowne Plaza, both of which are huge hotels in Times Square. Outstanding location. Good quality, good sized rooms (although generic in style), but not cheap.

On my last trip to New York I stayed at the Residence Inn Manhattan/Times Square, which is on Sixth Avenue at 39th Street. I really like this place, as it's away from the hubub of Times Square, yet easily walking distance. The rooms have kitchens (fridge, microwave, dishes and cutlery) and they provide a free breakfast. Reliable, albeit generic, Marriott style and quality.
