Hell's the reason that they made them have people from Day 1 and Day 2 is because people from Day 1 had formed groups and spent all of Day 2 rehearsing. That's not fair to the people from Day 2.
It never ceases to amaze me that the jerks emerge on group day. After 9 seasons, the contestants still don't get that the way you behave in front of the camera during Hollywood week will impact your life in the competition. The most unlikable people show their true colors on group day. Last year, it was Toderick Hall. This year it is Jordan Dorsey.
Even if you are a skilled vocalist and make it to the semi-finals, America will vote you off if you show them that you are an a**hole. Updated On: 2/17/11 at 12:22 PM
Brdwaylvsong (sorry- I know I typed that wrong) THEY SHOWED YOUR FRIENDS TONIGHT! Karen Rodriguez and Pia Toscano. As soon as they said they went to LaGuardia I knew it had to be your friends! They were great! Seems like they are progressing well in the competition! Mazels to them and your alma mater!
Ahhh thanks for letting me know!!!!! And I'm so glad that they mentioned that they went to LaG!! I had to miss tonight's episode due to rehearsal, so I'll be sure to catch it online somewhere
I think the LaGuardia girls are real contenders, particularly the one with the straight hair. Can't believe they put through that little guys with the glasses (Clint?). I thought he was vocally weak, and annoying to boot.

Did that country wannabe boy get through? I'm sorry, his voice is so annoying. It's nothing special, and he can't sing anything other then a few country diddledoes

Yay!!!!! OMG!!!!! Karen, Pia, and Rachel (who went to LaGuardia too, even though I didn't personally know her) all made the top 24!!!! That means that I went to HS with 25% of the female finalists on Idol! What are the odds of that?!?!
I think, for once, it seemed like they were fairly accurate about really having a depth of talent this year. That said, given what we were shown, some of the judges' selections were hard to figure out. Of the last three guys, it seemed like Colton was on a much higher level than the other two. Likewise, that last girl chosen is clearly a talent, but seems too young for this moment. I'm already rooting against a couple of guys (Clint, Jordan) because of their attitudes during the group process.

I don't watch but tuned in last night just for the heck of it. Based on the clips I saw of the last three, the guy on the right when they were before the judges should have gone through, in my opinion. That red haired guy was good but, for me wasn't as good as the other guy. That young kid can come back and try again. I bet he will get through in another season or two.
I agree that Colton should have gone through over carrot-top. And Clint really bugs me too! That birthday girl was a beotch! Can't wait for next week, I hope my favorites do well. Is it open to song choice or a theme next week?
I thought they weren't going to limit their choices by 12 of one gender and 12 of another. And it would seem with that last group of 3 boys that they shouldn't have. Colton definitely deserved to move on. I like the red headed guy, but I am fearful, America will not vote for him.
Otherwise, this has to be the strongest group of singers ever. Many of them would have easily won in many recent seasons--especially last season.
Some of these people would be smart to form duos/groups instead of trying to be solo artists--some of those group performances have been stunning.
Bwaylvsong- Wow! Your friend Pia was GREAT tonight! Love the song she sang and she is SOOOO pretty! Even though Karen is very pretty and I loved that she also sang in Spanish, I would have liked to have heard more power in her voice. Poor Rachel was just awkward. I didn't even recognize the Fiona Apple song until the middle. Loved Lauren Alaina and even though it was a little cheesy- I love Naima's voice!
Wooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!!! I voted on AI for the first time in my life last night- I guess it paid off
Supportivemom- yeah, Pia is fantastic and was able to belt to the stratosphere even 7 years ago, and has improved a lot in terms of presence/expression. Karen actually has a naturally stronger head voice than belt and was an incredible Maria in our production of WSS. Yeah, Rachel was kind of awkward- I didn't know her in HS so I can't comment on her development since I only heard her sing classical music (which she sang wonderfully), but I can say that she sort of lied about never having sung musical theater- she played Little Cosette (and I'm sure was in the ensemble too) in our production of Les Miz. But I guess that doesn't qualify as standard "Broadway" music, so it made sense.
^ LaGuardia is well represented! Those girls deserved it! I'm glad Naima got in- I like her uniqueness and emotion. There are a lot of good singers this year- should be fun! Mazels!
