Everytime I'm in New York, I struggle to find places to eat after shows - most I wander into inform me they are no longer serving.

Any suggestions on where to grab a good bite post-show? Decently priced, of course.

Angus McIndoe actually promotes a late-night, after show menu called $10 After 10.

I’ve made reservations for most of my meals for my short Jan 4 - 7 trip. My friend is joining me 4 - 6 but I’ll be on my own for most of the 6th until I fly home on the 7th.

I’d love some input on the reservation I’ve made for myself after the 7;00 p.m.The Lifespan of a Fact on Sunday the 6th. Due to cold weather, I was looking for something good but also close to Studio 54. I figured that after I stage door (I believe most of the cast doesn’t come out so shouldn’t take long) I’d be ready to eat by no later than 9:15 if not earlier. I made my reservation at Da Tammaso around the corner from Studio 54. I’ve never eaten there. Is it any good?

I’ve been trying to branch out beyond my favorites plus on a Sunday night many of my favorites will either be closed or about to close by time the play lets out, further than I’m willing to travel, or both.

I’ve already made some reservations for my friend and It’s basically her first adult trip to NYC so I gave her some options and she chose so it’s:

Friday night - pre-theater - Blue Fin (good, if overpriced, food and they do a good of getting you in and out before a show)

Saturday Lunch - Rock Center Café (it’s all about that view)

Saturday night - Sardi’s (a must for me every trip)

Sunday breakfast - Junior’s

So If Da Tammaso isn’t a place you’d recommend, what would you recommend?

(I tried Victor’s between parts 1 & 2 of Angels in America last trip and while it was good, I don’t feel a need to return yet. I also ate at Becco last trip and thought it was basically just okay, but I mainly only went because I already had reservations even though I wasn’t that hungry plus they sat me in the upstairs un-air-conditioned atrium during the June heatwave so not an enjoyable experience. They also close at 10;00 anyway so not an option.)

It also might be helpful to know that I start to get sad as my NYC trip comes to an end so by then bright-and-cheery places wear on me. I’m willing to spend $ to $$$,

Thanks in advance for all helpful recommendations.

Orso or Joe Allen’s

Both look good. Joe Allen’s is more appealing this time (although I suspect Orso’s food is better) because I’ve heard about it but never gone plus they’re open later so I won’t feel rushed. I love that the place is decorated with window cards from all the flops. Only thing that gives me pause is the fact that you have to wait until 7 days prior to hopefully make a reservation. I guess I could sit at the bar if it comes to that, but if it’s crowded I’d prefer a table.

My friends and I always go to empanada mama on 51st street and 9th ave after watching a show since we love empanadas, It’s not expensive, and it’s open 24h! In fact, we tend to go to restaurants on 9th Avenue as they tend to be more local (non-chain) and cheaper than Times Square prices.
Da Tommaso has been there for decades and there’s a reason for it. I think that’s a solid choice for sure!

I'm partial to Spoonfed on 51st Street.  It's owned by a former wardrobe person and was helped along in the construction phase by stagehands helping out a friend.  And the food is fantastic.

Looks like they're open till 11 on Sundays.

These are all great suggestions. Keep ‘em coming. Has anyone actually eaten at Da Tammaso?

My personal favorites in the area are The Brazen Tavern, John’s Pizzeria and Carmine’s. Junior’s is good too. But there are also lots of quick service locations in Times Square area if you’re in a rush or have budget constraints.

Rather than sitting alone at Da Tomasso (you can find dozens of reviews on Trip Advisor), why not consider the 9:30 pm show at 54 Below, right under Studio 54
The 9:30 show features some performers from the new broadway musical Be More Chill. Food is excellent. Sounds like fun.

Dining alone could be a bit, well, sad. Come to the cabaret at 54 Below.

I don’t mind Junior’s for breakfast or a hot chocolate and Bailey’s at the bar, but I find their non-breakfast fare kinda meh. Plus I don’t want my last dinner of my NYC trip to be at a touristy place (and we’re already eating breakfast there that morning).

I’d considered John’s (I’ve eaten at John’s of Bleecker Street), but I imagine there will be a queue and I’d like to avoid that.

I’ll def look into Carmine’s and The Brazen Tavern. Thanks. I def don’t want my last meal to be quick, cheap and unmemorable. If I wanted that, I would just go over to Shake Shack. LOL. No disrespect to the Shake shack. I do love it for what it is.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! This sounds awesome. I’m checking it out now. I agree that a lot of times I find it kind of depressing to eat my last meal in New York City by myself. This sounds like the perfect anecdote.

Also, are minors allowed to attend 54 Below? Do you think that the stans will be out of control? Or does 54 Below have security that shut will that sh!t down?

54 Below Main Dining Room seating is fine. I think Ringside is also sold out. These are not well known performers (yet) where you need to be so close and craning to look up at them. Save the $20 to use toward your food minimum!

Don’t understand your subsequent questions about minors and stans. Could you clarify please?

Be More Chill and its actors have developed quite the rabid fan/stan base.

Looking at the seating chart, I took your advice and booked the main dining room. I don’t want them watching me eat. Lol. I’m looking on the website but can’t seem to find the minimum amount one is required to spend on food and libations. Thanks for all your help!

If you're still open to suggestions, take a look at Taboon, 10th Ave at 52nd St.  We thought it was great.

“There is a $25 minimum food and/or drink.”

With their prices and the way I eat (especially on vacation), that won’t be a problem. Lol. Thanks.

I already booked 54 Below, but I’ve saved this (and all other great recommendations) on TripAdvisor for future reference. Thanks!

As for minors. They come with their parents. They tend to behave better than the adults.

I did 54 Below tonight after TLoF. Overall, I had a great time. Thanks for the recommendation. I’d gladly go again.  It ended my night on a positive note.  Will Roland was in attendance and sat not far from me.

Are the post-show dining recommendations still good in the era of Covid? There have been a lot of restaurants which have closed. Thanks.
